Rey shouldn't have unmasked imo. He did have good matches afterwards so it wasn't like his form was hurt or anything. Just a odd decision. I liked this story because of the fact that the momentum Rey got from it lead to two title reigns. What did you think of the "Giant Killer"?

Also, Rey was scheduled to face Psicosis in Mexico the week after Superbrawl. It was supposed to be a wager match but news broke out that Rey was gonna lose(Superbrawl match). Some guys told the athletic commision and they turned it into a title match. Rey got the fans pissed because this wasn't what they expected. They wanted a mask vs mask match and It was a fraud. Funny enough, he came out to Goldust's entrance.

Me personally, for that mask, wcw should've put world heavyweight title on mysterio at least once, if wcw were serious about pushing rey, like bischoff said. Even if it was just a brief title reign, it would've been unprecedented at the time & wcw could've built from that momentum. But then again, it's wcw in the late 90s we're talking about, so....

You said things well. Yeah I totally understand the idea of wanting their facial emotions to sell more but mask sell. It makes you stand out and it's a specialty merch that so many want. I know I desperately wanted a rey mysterio mask as a kid but they were like double the price of a t shirt so my parents never let me get it. But yeah eric biscoff admits he didn't understand the importance of mask to lucha audiences. Plus he probably saw how much wwe made off mask and was kicking himself for not selling mysterio, ultimo dragon, jushin liger, la parka, psicosis, etc. mask. Plus they probably could have had a great deal where they just import them from mexico and japan to sell to a new audience and make a ton of money with little effort but that's hindsight

idk if anyone else had the WWE Dvd Doc on Rey Mysterio had all his big matches and interviewed him round his house and training ring. The whole time he had his face censored when he wasn't wearing a Mask which made me even more intrigued and was very shocked to see he unmasked in the 90s and being confused why his face was censored.

Of all the different stages Rey went through in his career mask, maskless, and mask back on. I would have love to see Rey goes on the dark side with the mask like Sting with the Crow or Jushin Liger with Kushin. With his face painted with white eyes underneath his iconic mask. It never was done before with him. If he would have done it during his feud with the NWO before they made him took it off. He would have been over more than he was maskless.

Remember watching nash and Rey on nitro on TV as a kid. I remember being shocked seeing Rey without his mask. I was so upset I was going to change to the channel back to Raw Is War, until the match between them both started. I had zero doubt Nash would win. Silver King were always maskless. Not only La Parka. The Villanos, Liz Mark Jr., and Super Calo was the ones that never got unmasked either. I think the reason why, they were out except the Villanos by the time when WCW's ratings were starting to go down. That's when by the end of 98, WCW were starting to unmasked the luchadores for shock value and ratings which is sick.
