The only fan letter I've ever written in my life was to Robin Williams, back when I was eight years old. Mr. Williams (or his publicist) was kind enough to send me back a signed poster! This was back in the Mork & Mindy days. Suffice it to say, he's always been my favorite comedian - and celebrity in general.

“ I think the saddest people always try the hardest to make people happy because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anyone else to feel like that.” I think that’s one of the most profound and saddest Robin Williams quotes.

I hope 20 yrs, 30 yrs 50 yrs from now that people remember & are still talking about Robin Williams & what a comedic genius he really was. I truly wish someone could've seen the pain & depression behind the laughter & had been able to help this man. Mental illness is so complex & not taken nearly seriously enough. We all had a brief moment of a true comedic miracle in our life, at one point. RIP Robin, you honestly were one of the rare ones on our little planet of Earth, know that you're still loved by so many.

Aaawww Robin ❤❤❤❤❤OH A personal story! A friend from France was visiting me in San Francisco in the early 1980s. I took her down to Clement Street to the Last Day Saloon. My friends were playing there. During a set break we went nextdoor to the Holy City Zoo. Anyway, we went in and sat down, and Robin Williams took the stage. We were right in front. He starts greeting the audience, hears she is French, and for the next 10 r so minutes he did his act with and to her in fluent French. 😮
