@@azlanadil3646 Not really. The losses they took during WW2 are still impacting the demographics of Russia in major way with a long list of serious issues they cause. Realistically Russia isn't even that populous. They have something like 140 million people which while not small isn't that massive either. They're in the ballpark of Japan, Mexico and Philipines but noticibly lagging behind the other countries in the Top 10. Bangladesh has 170 million, Brazil 203, Nigeria 223, Pakistan 241, Indonesia 279 and America 335. Then there are the two big dogs, India and China with having nearly ten times the population Russia has at over 1,4 billion EACH. Two of them account for over 1/3 of all of humanity...

imperator has pops and runs smooth as butter all the way to the ending date. As long as population growth isn't too large, which in the EU timeframe it really wasn't, performance should be fine. This is why stellaris and vic3 have such bad performance due to pops, there are just a ton more of them in the late game than there are at the start
@afridge86088 ай бұрын

@@afridge8608 I’m on the side of pops being good but in Stellaris they cause a HUGE amount of lag. Late game Stellaris can be nigh-unplayable for many people cause pop growth obliterates that games performance. It’s probably because the game starts with roughly 20 planets existing, each having around 30 pops, and ends with several hundred planets each with 50-150 pops. Safe to say those conditions aren’t happening in eu5

Eu5 wont have insane scaling of modifiers like eu4. So for example if you have -20% and -10% cost modifier it would be -30% in eu4 and eu5 could only let you have the best -20%. In my opinion it is a greatly needed balance so its fine
@NumberOneHouseLover8 ай бұрын
This is potentially an unpopular opinion due to the fact that HOI4 consistently has the highest player base of any Paradox Game... but I'm not sure I would like EU5 to be more similar to HOI4 in its single-player/multi-player balance. I have found that whereas most Paradox games I feel like I am consistently improving at in single-player, even after playing for hundreds or thousands of hours, HOI4 single-player is extremely underwhelming. For example, it took me around 500 hours of EU4 before I was able to get my first World Conquest, and longer than that to be able to get achievements such as True Heir of Timur. In comparison I only have about 200 hours on HOI4 total and nothing feels even remotely challenging in single-player - it is not difficult to world conquest, it's not difficult to survive against Germany as minor nations, etc. While I know HOI4 multiplayer is very fun and much more catered to than EU4 MP for example, I'd like if EU5 had a single-player experience that made me feel like I was improving with time, where HOI4 single-player you can easily win as just about any nation while mostly AFK if you know how to make a unit template. Ideally EU5 would have a positive single-player experience with significant replayability and variation (like EU4) while still having effort put into multiplayer balancing and primarily multiplayer-relevant mechanics (like HOI4). But I have a bad feeling that it will be like recent Paradox launches (CK3 and Vic3 for example, both of which I very much enjoy now but launched in incomplete forms and still need a significant amount of work to have the level of variation and enjoyment as their predecessors.)

You know historically Russians tried to use winter and attrition warfare against Poles in 1617 but it didn't work. At least not fully. People must realize that winter is the best season to wage war in Eastern Europe.
@darkphoenix27458 ай бұрын
I wouldn't say so, winter is what defeated the Swedes during the Great Northen War. You're ignoring the fact that Russia was going through internal problems and a succesion crisis during the war of 1617, that's why the poles manage to have that kind of succes.
@kamilszadkowski88648 ай бұрын
@@darkphoenix2745 In 1617 Muscovy was long past the sucsession crisis. You are overlooking the fact that most key players in the region were often waging war during winter. Poland and Muscovy/Russia were doing it pretty much on a regular basis against each other. In the case of Monglos and later Tatars, they were almost exclusively launching their raids and campaigns during winter. Frozen rivers are much easier to cross you know and there are about 7 thousand rivers between Warsaw and Moscow. Winter aside from summer is the best season to wage war in Eastern Europe simply because during Autumn and Spring most of the land turns into an untraversable sea of mud. You may heard about "Rasputitsa" or what Poles call Roztopy. It is way easier to prepare for the cold by issuing your troops adequate clothing and tools rather than trying to carry your artillery and wagon trains through muddy roads.
@darkphoenix27458 ай бұрын
@@kamilszadkowski8864 I'm not denying you attacking on winter can be useful, but if they went for the quick wins getting frozen in winter is the last thing they wanted to do. The mongols raided and return back to home, they didn't stay to let their troops get dead due to atrition.
@runswithbears3517Ай бұрын
Also, it's not like cold weather alone is going to kill huge amounts of troops. There needs to be a comprehensive strategy to ensure the invading army cannot properly cope with the cold, by putting him under constant pressure and raiding his supply lines for example, like what happened to Napoleon. "General Winter" is a bit of a meme in that way. There's a lot more to it, and as you rightly say the frozen ground can even be a big advantage to an army that is well-prepared for warfare under cold conditions.

Apparently the pop system doesnt cause much lag in vic3 and its gonna be much simpler in eu5. The pops (and the trade in vic3) use extremely simple math thats nice to the cpu. Ai making decisions for example is much harder on the cpu which is why for example ck3 lategame is so slow (tons of created characters and dynasty members cause the lag). At least this is my current understanding

Napoleons retreat was due to bad logistics in winter. However when the Republic managed to capture Moscow in 1612 it did not suffer from as much attrition due to better logistics from Lithuania and many Moscovites that chose freedom over slavery at that time.
