Izzy's tactic only works when catch your opponent over extending their punches or throwing a hook. A simple straight or jab is going to beat that counter hook. If you want to beat Izzy just study this fight and the Jan fight. Jan was catching Izzy all day with straights but was a step behind in the stand up and had to resort to wrestling for the win.

I can’t be the only one who thinks Izzy really underestimated Sean. I mean why would he throw such a wide hook against a boxer like Strickland, who’s marching straight forward. It’s not like him to make that kind of mistake. I know I’m nowhere near his level but Izzy clearly didn’t prepare a backup plan in case his long range point fighting game didn’t work. And not to downplay Sean’s skill, but he doesn’t exactly have some funky, unbeatable fighting style that Izzy can’t adjust to.

Man is the hardest fighter to hit in the UFC. And Izzy was trying to set hin up with his usual traps, long hooks thrown while on thw backfoot. Sean is simply to defensively responsible to get cought by that stuff.

@@dblacc3421 he didn’t want it lol. He literally said he wanted to sit out till 2027 after the fight and only came back once Strickland lost. And he 1000% did not deserve it. He already got his Immediate rematch against Alex. On his reign going into the Strickland fight, he had zero defences. And he also lost every round very dominantly except round 2 which he still should have lost either way. He got dog walked and had no defences on his current reign. He gave up and ran away the whole fight and was being chased and screamed at by Strickland in round 5 lol. One of the most humiliating defeats we have ever seen. Absolutely did not deserve a rematch
