There seems to be interest in long hair sporrans lately. I am finishing a angora goathair brass cantle sporran and there seems to be a great deal of interest in it on social media.

I make mine because I cant afford to drop $400! Visit your local Goodwill or 2nd hand store, yardsales, etc.. and obtain a leather womans purse of suitable size. The "Rob Roy" sporran he mentions can be done effectively; and YES, they can be dressed up effectively, as I did using a Bobcat full face, which I bought at a Mountain Man Rendezvous (or if you trap or hunt) ... I got some taxidermy eyes, glued it with epoxy to the top cantle, and puffed it out with foam eggs... So, yes... it CAN be done, but not without effort!!

Mine is a hand made semi historical one from a friend's ex husband. My big debate is if I should keep it because the relationship did end badly, though it is a very nice one

I have a full mask grey fox sporran. It has the skull intact so it is a bit in your face and I haven't worn it it some time. Would like to have it modified to be less overt.

I must say that as far as sporrans go Iam a Philistine, I think the plainer the better. My main is a black day one made from sealskin and once I was looking at furry ones that i suspect were decorated with either cat or rabbit fur, they were cheap and nasty and stayed in the shop after I left. The pipers sporran is impressive but only when worn as uniform in a pipe band, they look ugh out of that theatre.
