After reading Jessica's book I am convinced that it was SM who decided to boot her and not the members. In the book she mentions heavily how the company has so much power and influence over trainees and what lengths they will go to get their way. Knowing that she speaks to some of the members is relieving. I wish the girls could hang out and be friends publicly not secretly, but knowing they speak to each other and are on good terms is relieving. They never speak poorly of each other despite everything they've gone through. I do believe its SM who tries to prohibit them from mentioning Jessica, but they do anyway, our little rebels

Or maybe she's deliberately telling us what she thinks happened between her and the other 8 so the general public(and SM, cause I'm pretty sure the girls have their own private lives and SM cannot watch them 24/7) will think that they're not cool with each other when in reality, Jessica forgave the other 8 for what they did a long time ago and now they're cool with each other, though she still doesn't speak too much with who she thinks started the entire voting process (Taeyeon). This theory was created because we have seen her be in the same place as a couple of SNSD members(Yoona, for example) at the same time, and with how close she was in proximity to those members, there's honestly no way she didn't at least see them.

HyunA left due to illness so her parents pulled her out, Sunmi left because she was having a hard time dealing with their overseas promotions in the US, Sunye left because she wanted to get married and start a family (though she was technically still in the group until their 4-member comeback), and Sohee left because she wanted to pursue acting over music, which was her original goal. Not much mess there, although there are rumors to the contrary. All the girls are friendly with each other though some more than others and they were even roommates past the time it was strictly necessary. In general whatever negatives there are about JYPE for the most part (with a few exceptions like Jay Park etc) they or at least JYP himself tend to have a decent relationship with most of their former artists.

I do think it is less of an evil than people make it out to be. Especially with EXO, the remaining nine members were caught extremely off-guard with the Chinese members leaving; it makes complete sense they would be hurt and a little resentful at those past members (at least for a while). Maybe SNSD and EXO didn't want to mention past members bc it brings up sour memories? And they want their fans and the media to focus on the present group and their future endeavors, not always writing stories about the members who left and theorizing about what happened. What other active groups consistently talk about past members (who may have left on bad terms) I'm honestly curious. But for me if a member leaves the group, for whatever reason (whether it was their choice, or the other members, or the company), I really don't think the rest of of the group be obligated by the fans to bring them up in conversation. But I understand the frustration and putting the blame on SM in SNSD's situation, especially if members say outright they want to talk about Jessica, but can't due to SM.

You really have to be very naive to believe the other 8 members were responsible for Jessica's departure. Kpop idols have almost like no autonomy to make decisions like that. I'm 99% sure that SM gave Jessica a warning, that she needed to choose between her brand or the group. And I support her 100% for choosing her brand. If SNSD was having that powerful rights to decide everything, their 10th anniversary would not that shitty and they would not be treated unfairly from time to time. Not even mention Jessica was a top member in SNSD that time, so you really think SM would let members kick her out just because of some disagreements? If you really think that, you don't know anything about this field at all, Idol have to be perfect and not showing those bad sides between them to the public. If anything, it's probably mismanagement by SM themselves - they probably wanted to take 90% of profits from her company or something ridiculous like that. SM understood and accepted her decision and there was even a song dedicated to her, the "Catch me if you can" MV filmed with her. She was supposed to leave the group and SM in a peaceful way but there were reasons why SM decided to terminate their contract. Its impact on the leading girlgroup's reputation, and the company's reputation in general must have been considered carefully. SM is a business, not a "playground". If anything, SM broke faith with her. Any other missed things before that were _not critical and with permission_ and fine because _when you're starting a business, you MUST work with the bureaucracy on THEIR schedule, not yours._ Everything was fine, up until the point where someone upstairs at SM changed their mind (maybe got greedy and demanded a bigger cut/kickback of B&E income?), at which point it was too late for Sica to back out without incurring massive financial penalties. So she plowed ahead, because forward was the only way out.
