Howerchuk is a Dan Heatley tear player. Third best of his time when he was playing with the 2 best players in history

Hybrid cap is probably the best idea I've heard. You can only bench a cap compliant team on the night. So if someone does come off LTIR and you are put above the cap, you can still play them. The downside is you'd have to exclude players from the game to become cap complaint. To further deter loophole abuse, those players you have selected to not play would not be allowed to play for the rest of the playoffs or the series. You'll need to call up an AHL backup for reinforcements. This stops you loading up on players who don't have a two way contract at the deadline, and further risks your depth options if you need to clear waivers to prepare for your abuse.

I think you are the problem for the NHL because you don't spend any money on the league.

Rempe isn't a problem he's an echo of the past that a lot of us wish was still around - CTE is from CONSTANT hits, football players get hit all day everyday during football season, UFC fighters spar all day. Even rempe fighting 'a lot' isn't anywhere near other sports head hits.

Some of my better early season predictions - Demko gets Vezina talk, Hughes gets Norris talk, Canucks go further in the playoffs than the Maple Leafs. (Demko should win, Hughes is close but not in a Makarr world, and guess we'll see how far they can go with backup goalies) This team does have a history of being 'too soft' ... but adding Tocchet feels like one of the last pieces they needed to fix that problem and be able to compete for cups.

@anonymousrex5207Күн бұрын
You've got some juice Rob when you can get a legend like Brendan Morrison on your show... good to see how much he is still into the hockey culture. With the talent that Vancouver has, I'm surprised it has taken them this long to get back into contention. I think the team management was the biggest hurdle as they made some bad deals that hurt their bottom 6, as well as the defense, for several years. The coaching change is huge... Tocchet is one of those guys who is great at motivating people. I watched Tocchet play, and also got to see him coach, and I can definitely say the guy knows how to get the most from his players.

One solution could be, you get into a fight, you go through concussion protocol. If you have a concussion you sit out, if you don’t you keep playing

To all you soft f***s complaining about Nashville's chants is laughable. Go to a soccer game in Europe and witness how intimidating the home crowd can be, Nashville is NOTHING compared to Europe. The game of hockey needs a more racous, loud environment, especially during the playoffs. Use home ice to your advantage. I mean, not surprised seeing Canucks hype up song is U2.

This year's Canucks reminded me of last year's New Jersey, except Vancouver has a better goalie, and that's mostly a regular season comparison.

NHL is such a bad league - unfortunately. It takes all of our skill from our league (SHL), som 80-160 odd players (not all starters in NHL, but some 50-60 are), but not only that, it prevents anything from ever being on the line. NHL has no demotion for teams that end up last, like the SHL do, which means there's something *always* on the line - a gold or a loss. Real emotional investment. But this whole argument of "oh it would be so bad for a team if someone got injured and it ruined the playoffs" - huh? THAT IS THE POINT OF ELITE ATHLETICISM AND SPORTS!! NHL is doing everything in it's power to absolutely destroy the athletic aspects of the game, water it down and make it less relevant. The fact that injuries can happen to every one and every team, that *is* fair. But fucking with the cap space, certainly is not. Let the cap space be the cap space, regular season and playoff. Why go the extra mile, every single time, to cheapen the game?
@AnnettemobileКүн бұрын
I just feel like some people are being babies. Hockey is a physical sport and it should stay physical. Do you know how many football people get injured? Do you hear people say we should take tackling off football no you don’t, so those babies shut up.

It is important to note that although Mikeyev, Suter, and Lafferty are not producing, they are beastly defensively, they rarely make mistakes in the D zone. So, yes, we are overpaying for 4th liners, but at least they are not hurting us on the ice. Kuzmenko had to go, he did not buy in. During the high PDO time, if you actually looked at the goals, many of them were incredible chances, like open nets where you would have been UNLUCKY to not score. I think the PDO people were not actually watching the games.

Lol ask Nashville if they are frauds lmfao!!
@KennethFuller-ko4cxКүн бұрын
First and foremost, it's sad when a title depicts a message that a hockey team is fraud when that team is doing everything possible to win a playoff game. We have to remember that any team in this playoff has a chance to win the Stanley Cup. Now if an underdog wins the Stanley Cup does that mean they are frauds too?

I picked Vancouver to come out of the West but that was with Demko in net. It’s gonna be interesting to see how they play without him or DeSmith back there. Silovs was great in Game 4 but he’s still a wildcard at this point if he has to play the rest of the series

16:52 "Only one of them would become a Star." This is true in both ways...Kevin Connauton is the only player he drafted who played for the Dallas Stars (from a 2 minute scan). It's possible some more of them played for the Texas Stars and never reached the NHL though, didn't bother verifying all of the players who never played in the NHL.

Luck or not, I think the one thing that separates the good teams from the decent teams is that good teams capitalize on their luck. Did we get lucky that the puck hit the post at the end? Sure, but we capitalized on that luck and turned it into a win. An ok team would have still lost.

Well, the Canucks have delivered this year (fan since they joined the NHL--old school). Great interviews, btw. But not Frauds, just kinda unexpected interlopers. Not too terrified Team is about the goaltending situation--although activating Silovs this early is a bit...alarming. Team is strong. Love to see it. Work to be done...
