There are 2 ways to look at the Manhua from this point on out. The first one is “Jin-Woo became too OP and it’s boring. There are no stakes or threats and the Manhua became predictable.” The second one is “Jin-Woo trained so hard to get to this point and now he’s finally getting the rewards he was bound to get and we are actually finally seeing the result of his training”. I see it as the second one. Also, if he just almost dies in every single fight he’s in (like what happens to basically every other anime mc) when he (Spoiler alert btw) ACTUALLY dies fighting the Ice and Beast Monarchs it wouldn’t have had as much gravity, it wouldn’t be as shocking nor as fun because “didn’t that happen before?” And “oh it’s happening again” it was basically a step up to show you how weak the monsters are compared to how strong the monarchs and rulers are, to show you not just tell you that Sung Jin-Woo is not a human anymore. I mean it’s just my opinion but would you have rathered Jin-Woo still get his ass handed to him even after leveling up? That would’ve took all the “Character was weak gets power now strong” thing he had going on. (Sorry i had to type it all it’s been on my mind for so long🥲)

This I agree with, He trained, he all the Daily Quests and his Fights in the Beginning, no every fight taught him something when he wins he realize why and how, Him winning shows that Training does Paid off, also his "2nd Death" definitely had a Huge Gravity because it brought back the time he was Rank E in the Double Dungeon and had me thinking "I thought he gotten stronger? I thought all his Work, Effort, Training, Persistence, Endurance, Planning was showing results?" That Fight with the Monarchs literally show Sung Jin-Woo all his Work and Effort of collect more Shadows was for nothing, his Gears, his Skills, his Training could not save him in the end.

I don’t think anyone cares that he’s op it’s the fact that he makes it hard for any other character to shine. After he reached the level where he could easily beat every threat they should’ve gave chances for other characters to grow instead we get them being clowned and shit on only for, oh wow Jin woo is here hooray we are saved. In one punch man they don’t focus on saitama because he never has a challenge we get to see the people around him improve but in solo leveling everyone doesn’t get stronger and they continuously need to be saved by our Mc

I think this was where i began to lose interest, because of the lack of stakes. You are right, It became very predictable, I finished the entire manwah of course, but, the conflicts involving jinwoo, felt so hollow to me, that i almost wanted him to not get involved and see others overcome threats

Mmm he does have some challenges after this as we who finished it know but yeah most humans became easy mode after this which was a shame. I love the leveling up and power fantasy thing but when the protagonist becomes so powerful nothing can threaten them that’s when I check out like I did with “the gamer” is solo leveling had that quality of art I think most people would have dropped it

You're right about the lack of stakes. Once the stakes are gone from power fantasies, that's where everyone usually starts to get to that "meeeeh" point. I didn't really reach that point til roughly the final arc. But there's a reason I tell people new to SL that its carried by the hype. Which is one aspect I hope the anime adapts well. Even if we hate them, we need those cliff hanger endings to build hype.

The Vulcan fight for me was hype becuase it was implied or even stated a single direct hit from Vulcan could heavily damage or straight up kill jin woo and we see jin woo barely block Vulcan's attacks with Iron's shield to reinforce that so for me there was tension and jin woo used creativity and strategy instead of just brute force to win which I appreciate more honestly than "my power level is bigger therefore I win". However, I do agree I wish jin woo's progession was slower and took more time before he reached S-Rank or even A-Rank. Yeah Choi isn't the deepest or interesting character his banter with Baek was funny but that's about it. Go gunhee is the best I love this man such a bro. Overall I enjoyed these arcs not as much as the previous ones though and while I was still hype for Jin woos battles you can really tell when the OP jin woo was starting to come out and make most fights seem not as interesting at least for me.

A hunter belongs in the dungeons..... That sounds like something off of Monster Hunter lol. But seriously these 2 arcs are pretty much 5050 in my eyes like we got the 1st arc which is basically just main character going through a dark soul's run and unlike everybody else in the world, he somehow is unable to die multiple times and reclaim his souls and got a healing item that can heal every wound but at least we get the MC's father maybe fighting that guy who REALLY should have gotten sent to jail and the other arc was the evaluation, MC is literally an S class hunter now and he turned down the Hunter's Association invitation. So it really feels like these two arcs are just placeholders for the later arcs. Overall, while the 2 arcs, at least one of them, felt a bit weak, some of the things like the stuff MC's dad was talking about coming, MC getting a potion that could help his mom and the HA popping are good building blocks for future arcs. Nice job as always Donte and yeah I agree with you, the 'top' hunter really doesn't look all that impressive lol.

While it's true that the stakes are pretty much gone from this point forward, to me, this where I get really hooked (technically the point is once he can summon shadows), because what I love is the HYPE. My favorite fights in this series aren't the ones where he struggles to win, it's where he has an audience of people who are both amazed and terrified of him. Their reactions are the icing on the cake. The Metus fight isn't boring to me because he wins, it's because there is no one to see him win.

This was a display of the powers he acquired since the last time he came to the demon castle because the last time he was there he almost died from fighting Cerberus. But by leveling up and actually bolstering his strength, he made it seem like a breeze.

I see what you mean, but even stories like that still manage to up the stakes even if we know the protag is going to come out on top in the end. Manga such as Berserk and Chainsaw Man manage to do it even though there is a heavy focus on their protagonists.

Yea I’ve never had a problem with this either. It’s always how will they win whether than will they win. Readers are just becoming too meta and won’t suspend disbelief to enjoy the story. The stakes are fine here it’s just a matter if the story along the way is gripping enough.

Maybe they asked Hwang dung su(srry if i got it wrong) to translate because they thought he was a monster (he did come from a dungeon) and if they brought a normal regular translator he could get killed instantly just for saying something wrong and they wouldn't even get any info. Although he's a literal murderer at least he can defend himself (he isnt S-rank for nothing or so they thought). Even if the translator hid behind glass or wall, a "monster" from a high rank dungeon(I think) ain't getting stopped by a wall. I mean he destroyed the whole building. So with Hwang dung su they kill 2 birds with one stone. A translator and someone to keep him under control (Or so they thought🤣) That's how I see it.
