Truly outstanding...I had a guitar teacher who hated when I brought in Frank Zappa musc for him to teach me...months later was walking past his house and heard "Zombie Wolf" blaring from his house...his wife later told me he bought everything he could find that Zappa did...he never mentioned that to me and I never told him that I heard the music coming out of his house...and he still complained to me that I never brought in any normal music to learn.

Oh my! I’ve loved your all your videos, but this one made my day! As a classical guitar player (who also loves jazz) for nearly 55 years, I love not only the way you play, but your sense of humor and the way you lift my spirits. Never stop my brother. You’re the proverbial “breath of fresh air” in a world where chops are over glorified.
@jimmcwhirter37982 жыл бұрын
Loved it, and the “Forgive me Tarrega ..” at the end. Lol. The “teacher” here is a trope of a real attitude I’ve observed in some classical guitar circles, and it turned me off from playing classical for many years. Fortunately I got old and wise enough to realize, as this video conveys, that what others felt about what or how I played didn’t matter as long as I’m enjoying playing.

Welcome back! Much fun. A lot of Tarrega's music output was arrangements of music that we consider "classical" now, but was contemporary or nearly contemporary in Tarrega's lifetime. Instead of spinning in his grave, I suspect he may be smiling with us. Musicians gotta eat, and he struggled with developing and keeping an audience himself.

Acually, something VERY similar to that happend with the brazilian guitarrist Francisco Araújo in his graduation concert on Andrés Segovia's school. Francisco had to play two pieces, one of free choice and one chosen by his teacher. For the one of his choice, he picked a piece in the style of Chorinho (brazilian style, very rich and complex), and his teacher, obviously, chose something in flamenco style. After his presentation, his teacher went to him in the backstage, very angry, saying that that was desrespectfull due to everything he was taught, BUT WAS INTERPELLED BY ANDRÉS SEGOVIA HIMSELF, who complemented Francisco and said "That was marvelous! Never lose that magnificent brazilian guitar you have inside you! Go back to Brazil and keep up that amazing work!"
