The write should take some physic lessons. You will never see laser light coming to you until the laser hit you all light travel at the speed of light, a laser is light. You will never see the scattering light before the main laser hits you.

The girls find "an imposing structure" and all of a sudden it's a SHIP?? And now the ship is a WARSHIP?? What happened to all the "Intruder Alerts" and "Defensive Actions"? The emphasis of the AI is a bit off: calm when it should be excited, soft when it should be high and squeaky, going down when it should be going up. Very confusing! "They were now not just ...." repeated and repeated and repeated. And unexpected and inappropriate pauses. First, they are in space then suddenly, they are on the ground again? Since they were looking up, above the ruins of the city when the aliens arrived. And now the "Escape Pod"? They don't even know where they are. Out in space, yet "they ascend into the sky"? AND I'm tired of "I don't know.".
