I’ve watched a lot of vanlife KZbin channels and you guys are by far my favourite, and I only find you guys a week ago. You’re so relatable and raw where I find other vanlife channels very “Hollywood like” and make it out to be so glamorous and perfect. What made me fall in love with you Guys was the fact you said in one of your videos “travelling isn’t always fun and games” (something along those lines) which I 100% agree sometimes you need a few days to just relax and do nothing or change your diet ect ect. Another wonderful inspiring vlog and to be able to share it with your adventurous and open minded mum is an absolute bonus. Thirty years ago {1989) I was driving my 1969 VW campervan from Cusco to Arequipa alone along a then dirt road up to 5000 mtrs (flat out at 5km/hr due to the lack of oxygen for my engine). I also remember breaking down on several occasions due to bad fuel. But I have an absolutely amazing story which I would like to share with you. I drove to the headquarters of VW Brazil and I asked (in exchange for my photo-journalist pictures of my trip from Alaska to Sao Paulo) for a new engine. Amazingly two weeks later I drove away with a new engine, suspension, CV joints and a bunch of other smaller things and sponsorships to continue the rest of my journey through South America and Europe where the van was stolen in Seville Spain (no insurance - lost everything! Absolute disaster that words cannot describe!) in fact, while I was eating in a little eatery in Arequipa two guys tried getting into my van and stealing it but luckily a local shooed them away. I hope these things don't happen to you! The freedom felt and enjoyed on that journey has been food for my brain ever since! As it will be for yours no matter what happens. And yes sometimes the traumatic moments are what you will remember most. Good luck with your journey as I will be following you through the rest of AMAZING South America. OMG Jane, what a lucky mum you are!! Another great video. Mum is fantastic You’re both fortunate to have great parents, as did I! One observation/suggestion, if you aren’t already, Get yourself on a routine schedule for preventative maintenance on that diesel engine. Add anything to the list that may give you troubles down the road, then you won’t need to touch wood, well not as often anyway.

Max, your mum reminds me so much of my mum. She travelled to India in the 70s on a bus from the UK by herself. She sadly passed away last year when she was only 68 and had so much travel left in her. This video has warmed my heart so much . Cherish these moments, they will be treasured forever xxx

Hey guys, love your vids. Can I recommend a couple of things for the van that may help with the EGR problem, 1: get a pre filter for the diesel system, goes before the factory filter to catch any dirt and water 2: oil catch can, takes most of the oily sooty junk out of the blow by from the crankcase before it gets to the EGR valve. Not sure if its already been mentioned, but get someone to fabricate a catch can. Cleans the carbon out before it reaches and clogs everything. Had one on every diesel since I found out about them, HUGE difference with problems like that , and really easy.

So I've been working my way through your earlier episodes and I have to say my favorites are the one with your Mom. She's a go-getter just like you and Lee, and appreciates everything that comes along the way. You are lucky to have such a special relationship with your mom, cherish it always. **Spoiler alert** I know you guys are in different places in your life right now both physically and emotionally but I want you to know that this is my favorite vanlife/travel series on KZbin. Another favorite for different reasons. Max, your mum is extraordinarily beautiful inside and out. What an adventurous willing spirit and great sense of humor. I’m so happy you are sharing Peru with her. You will always remember this time with her and I really hope she can,do this again. Who knows? Egypt? Africa?
