Ví esta película por primera vez de jovencito allà por los 70 y me encantó. No he dejado de verla periódicamente..."Donde quieres ir Thomas Blackbull?...Quiero estar junto a los caballos.."

I was in a special education program in 1994. My teacher wanted us to read Hal Borland's 1963 book When the Legends Die. We also read the 1977 book The Pinballs by Betsy Byars.

Hard to find, but it's available on rutracker, with the original English soundtrack. I've just finished watching it. Magnificent film.

RIP Frederic Forrest. He appeared in more than 80 movies and TV shows. His most memorable performances were in 1979 with The Rose and Apocalypse Now. Never get out of the boat.

i live in the town where this was filmed. my great uncle owns the house that burned down. its still standing. ive watched rodeos at that arena. the movie guys were originally going to buy my grandpas truck for the movie but they got a different one. I remember reading the book when I was in about fourth or fifth grade. I remember it as profound yet depressing and looking back, I probably missed a lot of nuance. I might reread.

I read this book in highschool forty years ago. I'm rereading now. Good, but sad. In the book, the Thomas Black Bull's mentor was lying con man, who made Tom throw rides to cheat people out of there money. The mentor told Tom, all that matters was money, hero end up crippled, and forgotten. Tom hates his mentor, and hates himself for not riding as well as he can. Tom focus's his hate into breaking the horse he rides. Tom becomes a horse slaughter because he use the hate to kill the horses he rides. Tom is man who man who doesn't fit into modern society. In trying to adapt, he becomes famous, but infamous. I havn't read gotten to the end the second time, but from what I remember the first time, Tom just give up all the fame, and wealth to become a lone man tending sheep by himself.

Basically he looked inside himself until he returned to the humanity people like Red had been extracting from him.

One of my favorite books, I'm painting the book's cover which basically depicts the last pages where he gets rid of his clothes and wanders to kill a bear(his past he says).
