It's all good as long as those before get some credit. More importantly the music hopefully gains something positive from each who instills his feelings. I think we all have a bio rythm. If you play an instrument you seem to always gravitate towards or back to that beat, speed ect. Pick up a guit-fiddle and after playing what's on your heart or mind, you revert back to that same pleasing bio rythm you end on so often. At least it sure seems this way to me and those many I have jammed with over the years. Great job tickling that instrument! Keep'em coming!

Oh please oh please tell me you don't subscribe to such delusional, juvenile conspiracy theories! The point is if you are over 30, you grew up with words and used them in ways that have no connotation of negativity but NOW people are ultra sensative. Like we can't have Aunt Jemima syrup even though her relations were proud of it. We can't use "Jimmies" on ice cream because some people find it offensive. We can't be proud of the monuments in DC or presidents that lived 200 years ago because there were slaves involved. You'll understand in 50 years when young people hate you and find you evil and vile for having driven a gas car and ruining their planet. A big reason why Led Zeppelin might be highly criticized is that many of their earlier debut songs were old blues covers like this one. Just a guess but I think like a third or half of their songs from their first 2 albums might be these sorts of covers. So they got blamed for not being creative and stealing other musicians' works but I believe that this is part of the spirit of the blues. Sooooo many famous blues musicians, all the way to the classic old timers, would put their own spin on these sorts of songs so I think Led Zeppelin is really remarkable by mixing in their own flavours into these classic blues songs and doing something new... something that would still have influence on rock bands of the 21st century. You shook me, I can't quit you baby, how many more times, the lemon song, bring it on home, whole lotta love (maybe?), black dog I believe might all be covers.

Exactly. It's become trendy to trash Zeppelin and call them thieves, or a "cover band." Doing that comes with completely ignoring the original way they arranged/rearranged tunes and themes from the blues and made it unique.

I love zeppelins music. The guys, meh. That wave of British rock was almost exclusively white bands adopting American blues. The Stones irk me too. So rich yet can be so litigious and downright assholes.

Awesome..!!! Best KZbin notification I've gotten in months..!! I had no idea this song had roots back to the 1920's. I love the history you provide on the songs that you cover - I'm always learning stuff from you. I'm gonna go toss you a $50 dollar bill on PayPal right now... It's been too long since I tipped you last. Come on, people - Throw some dough to Mr. Phillips..! He's worth a few bucks..!!

Well, this a trip. The bluesmen who authored this song in the 1920's, could have no conception of its reincarnation as one of the greatest songs of the hard rock canon, in the far future of the 1970's.
