@kermitdfrogz Umm my dad is a History professor at the University of Oxford, I was studying with him for a test and I we watched this, we saw your comment and he said your comment was total non-sense because: 1.Some muslims originated from Arabia, but most of them weren't arabs 2.The Moors WERE Muslims and "Black" isn't an origin, some "black" people are african-american, some are from south-africa ect...And a lot of muslim people were from all over north-africa AND egypt. I'm pretty sure they weren't always like that. There is a book called "The History of the Moors in Spain" very interesting read.

straighttalk2, the moors were a mixture of arabs, amazigh. & a few africans. the name moor came from the name of the land they crossed to spain from not their race. the amazigh r originally from east africa hence their language traditional clothing, & names of their tribes r smiliar to those found in ethiopia. however, amazigh mixed with the romans, the arabs & Iberian people therefore, most of the amazigh don't look like east africans. however, their language & traditions clearly still do.

The Moors weren't black Africans, they were Mediterranean. Mostly of Carthaginian lineage. Carthage was a Phoenician civilization, coming directly from Mesopotamia. Since the Berbers are pale, and 5000 year old art proves it, and the Carthaginians are pale, and the Arabs are paler than Africans, where the hell did the blacks come from?

The first Moors were Arabs who went to Spain. Later Moroccons also went there. In the end, the races were so intermingled that there were Moors with white skin and blue eyes. One thing is common in all of them: they were muslims. Islam does not recognizes anyone on the basis of races or color. Your point could be valid if any Moor was associated with Christianity rather than Islam.

If you need any proof of the colors of moors one must simply look at the flag of Corsica (Mediterranean country) who has a flag called "The Four Moors Head" flag. Their tribute to the beheading and slaughter of moorish people. It's still their flag so simply google it and judge if its Arab or not

Desertsfoxxt, let's say you are correct. Explain why Shakespeare chose to represent a Moore with a black person? You see Shakespeare wasn't a racist or delusional. He simply wrote plays and use characters that represented real life. Anyway go to Museum and look at paintings of St. Maurice, and Johannes Morus. These Moors were deified and very much black. The Tauregs are Moors that are very much black and they cover a wide region of N. Africa. The white looking Amazigh cover a much smaller area.

@Jujuqueen136 1. The Saracen are what the Arabs were called in the Middle Ages and people from those areas were called that since around the days of the Roman Empire. 2. Moors was a term describing black people, not a religion; so SOME Moors were Muslim, but others weren't like Morien, who was Catholic. If all Moors were Muslim, then why is there Moorish Chess? Muslims were FORBIDDEN to play Chess directly decreed by Muhammad. Oxford teachers are very ignorant, I see. Hope THAT helps :)

Deserts, the paternal ancestors of African Americans lived in North Africa, mid east, and the Nile Valley region as far back as 3,000 yrs ago. Around that time period Bantu speaking people occupied the N. African region. Research the origin of E3a Y-DNA. Eventually my ancestors migrated to W. Africa and developed outer adaptations that increased the chances of survival in a climate closer to the equator. My African history is rich and predates the white berbers or the slave trade.

The Black ones were known throughout Europe as Moors(hence the names like Maurice and Morris etc) the "white" ones were known throughout Europe as Saracens. They were both muslims and they ruled Spain from 711AD to 1492AD. Yes, black African and Arab blood runs through many Spaniards veins today.

I don't think there is any question in the world of intellectuals that the Moors were black. The Spanish words 'Morena' or 'Moreno' meaning dark, comes from the fact that the Moors were black. The lighter color of Arabs are the result of darker skinned people mating with lighter. The Moors were black. Blacks wouldn't have to 'glory hunt' if Europeans didn't attempt to erase the contributions of Africans.

Deserts, cont.. The Bantu people or original inhabitants of your homeland, left the African continent and took part in the Iron Age of the Middle East. They eventually moved to the Nile valley. Later on they moved to N. Africa and occupied areas in the Sahara Grassland. From there they moved to West, East and South Africa because the Sahara was drying up. The Bantu migration is one of the largest in history. Unfortunately, all you learned about black history is the word "Abed" or "Nigger".

Saracen was the term used in the Middle Ages in Europe. The Saracen were often used as slaves. Look it up; as far as anyone on earth attempting to refute this, you're too stupid to reason with. 5953056, you are partially telling the truth. The black Moors took on the Arab religion and language only. We know the name Moor is not of Arab origin. The Arabs treated the Moors like 2nd class Muslims (sound familiar). A revolt took place around 739 A.D. under the banner of Kharijite Islam. The Arabs were overthrowned and forced to treat Moors as equals. The Muslims who entered Iberia in 711 were led by a berber named, Tariq ibn Ziyad. Arabs refered to blacks with the racist term "Abed".
