"I'm so little" part is giving me all sorts of bad flashbacks where girls used to compare themselves to me all the time (I'm 5'10") just to point out how small they are compared to the huge, manly girl ( i e me)

Happened to me too :/ I used to be pretty active in sports, so I had about as much muscle an adolescent can have. They kept comparing how "small" and "dainty" they are to me. It sucked and made me not want to exercise (bad idea. Next time I did a sport I was *sore*)

Then in later years the absolute harassment and just ( icky eww older ppl doing bad things) was just too much. But dancing and non stacking routines were really fun

@@glowingforthe1654 Aww that sucks. Some of our flyers were heavier than the bases too. Also our coach didn't know how to coach. She literally made us run laps until she said stop (WITH OUR MASKS ON!!) because one group didn't do a stunt right, it's like she thought it was everyone's fault. After we ran laps we did the stunt again and we were doing a teddy bear extension with my friend Haley and I was her backspot. I was so tired out, that I fell and I wasn't strong enough to lift her because I had already wasted all my energy on running. I'm so glad I'm not wasting all my weekends on it anymore. “Someone who doesn’t necessarily like cheer” As a band/guard kid, is it a common theme that band and cheer teams hate each other? @@anonymousperson3023 it’s not just pretty hard, it takes at least two or more years of training to do it even moderately well enough unless you’ve already been in gymnastics before for a long time. You’ve made no real argument here and whatever weird bias you have against cheerleaders is really showing. Get dumped by one in high school or something buddy? Try it out for yourself and then you can speak. And this is coming from a long time gymnast who tried cheer several times and just never got it. It takes a lot of work, practice, intensive body training and very good coordination. Many cheerleaders go by the Wym Hoff method often especially to keep their muscles from getting sore after practices or games. There’s so much more to it than you think, and your uneducation on the work and talent it takes is vastly obvious. It’s a sport no matter how you feel about it. Sorry buddy guy. If you can’t even attach a name to your comment then your point will immediately mean nothing to me, but beyond that, speaking on something you clearly have no clue about loses even more of your already lacking credibility here. Sorry to say, but you haven’t made any valid points here. Only stated your objective opinion on the sport. And opinions don’t sway facts.

you should've broken up with him when he started comparing. But atleast they found a match for each other. And whenever you think about the pick me, just remember... she'll lose to you in a competition of looking good, being healthy, being tall , being likeable, having a good personality, not being toxic and, most importantly , a fist fight. CHEER IS A SPORT. You cant change my mind Edit: a lot of people in the comments are saying things along the lines of “sideline cheer isn’t a sport but competitive cheer is” and all I have to say to them is sideline cheer isn’t just waving Pom poms. The amount of coordination and practice it takes to get the cheers down alone makes it qualify as a sport. A lot of what is done in competitive cheer is also done in sideline cheer it just goes unnoticed. That’s actually… extremely scary. 30 pounds is definitely underweight for that age. Clearly an older influence in her life (most likely her mom, but you never know) was enforcing an unhealthy body image onto her, perhaps even encouraging an ED, considering she was gloating about weighing so little (even if she didn’t, she obviously wanted to). No child should have to be so conscious about how much they weigh, unless it’s for health related reasons. I truly hope she’s gotten better by now; recovering from that sort of thing is a very lengthy process, and I’m sure it’s even more difficult when it’s started at such an early age.

Cheer is basically doing extreme gymnastics all while smiling and having a clear conversation in an enthusiastic tone with a rambunctious crowd the entire time - so yeah, it's a sport. Fun fact- in my class we literally had both the pick me girls. Like the sporty one that's one of the guys and the overly sensitive one. They hated each other. The sensitive one made it her mission to make everyone look bad(so everyone didn't like her.) Then the sporty one who decided she wanted to make the quiet kids her best friends (the quiet kids being me and another girl) , she wouldn't care about anything the guys did no matter how bad it was, she would also claim to have a crush on literally everyone. She yelled a lot about the other pick me too. Essentially once I switched schools, I made it my mission to never come in contact with either, ever again.

The size part brings back terrible memories of people always comparing their height to mine every girl in my age group is 5’3-5’7 I’m 5’10 and I always wish I was atleast 5’4 or 5’5 bc I hate being so tall I play basketball and stuff but I still wish I was shorter for certain things

When I was younger, I was very light and short for my age, but when I finally started gaining weight, (I was like 60 or so pounds now) this one girl kept criticizing me for gaining weight. She was around 8 inches taller than me, but she kept saying she was 40 pounds (she definitely was not) like it was something to brag about.

Hey, I'm glad that you're starting to get at a more healthy weight! Don't let anyone criticize you for that.

Ahhh there’s actually a new breed of pick me girls. The “hey I’m straight pick me”. “ I failed this generation, I don’t smoke/vape or drink, my parents are happy and I’m not traumatized, also I’m straight asf”

I'd just like to say that I am so proud of everyone here who recognizes their past faults and shortcomings, grew as individuals, and are secure enough and confident enough to accept their pasts and keep on living their bests lives. We've all acted certain ways that we're not proud of at one point or another. ❤️
