Don’t allow yourself to get to far in the hole. It’s just going to drive you batty and you said you don’t want to be rushing but trying to get all these loads in so you can get a check is going to make it worse. Also that tanker yanking is super hard on the truck and you will find yourself in the shop more and more and even if the repairs are hopefully not that expensive you are still losing time to be productive. It’s truly too much to be trying to swallow in a down market. Maybe switching to reefer would be easier on the truck but truly getting out from under that lease purchase is definitely a must if you want to keep your sanity. Just thoughts from a 25 plus year veteran driver who wants to see you succeed. God bless

I believe she should have done her homework before becoming a lease operator. It's a lot of crunching numbers. Fuel cost, tags, stickers, etc with the truck. And don't forget the payment every week and primes 28 percent. Female truck driver here.

Trust me, each disappointment works out. I stop questioning things and just try to prepare myself. I’m learning so much from just doing the lease for 2 weeks. Doesn’t take long to see everything for what it is honestly

At that Pilot (Stuart, VA) did you meet the Cats? Usually plenty of cats there. You are new at Prime (Been there done that), always make sure what you haul. If Palm oil, depends on the Palm oil and or wax, if you sit too long it will get hard or just impossible to get out and makes you to go to a tank wash and heat it up and head back to offload )takes too much of your time not running), to heat the trailer takes at least a day or two. I have been to every possible situation one can be in Food grade. You just started - there is a lot to see and learn. Some Tyson location one in particular, you need to off hook the trailer and jack the trailer up to get the oil out. There are maybe three other locations which that is the case, hopefully they don’t send you to those locations. Also always make sure what you will be hauling, check temperature and make sure you are clear. When winter kicks in you must be more careful - that stuff gets hard (palm oil). Make sure if they make you sit and you are hauling Palm oil, let the dispatcher know in writing that you are not responsible if it gets hard. Also if possible let the receiver know as well. Let everyone know you are there and you are not responsible. Stuff is going to happen no matter how good you are, and it is not always flowers and beautiful skies. Make trucking work for you and not you for trucking - be smart and use your head. Time passes by fast. As of now I see that you are all in to it, lol, just wait you will see. Good luck to you!

Love the advice and appreciate it. You’re very right, no matter how good a Trucker is, things will still happen. It’s a part of the process. Definitely gonna pay attention for any loads at Tyson and will take your advice to let them know that I am not responsible of the product gets hard. This was on my mind when I was sitting but I ran in transit heat to be safe. You’re the second person that asked me about the cats🤣🤣🤣 I didn’t see them. Mate they’ve been evicted lol.

Hell yea, I’d take southeast any day but you know it’s hard to get when everyone else is pushing to be in that area. I have a love hate relationship with Northeast because I live here. I hate Midwest with the super singles. The wind feel like it’s gonna blow me away 🤣🤣

Listen ms don't let your dispatcher con you in layover pay bs its not worth it if the load can't come off that day get another load u don't have time to sit when your paying for that truck your not a company driver and three load are good four load they would have to be short u need 1500 a day and above to have a profit for your self any thing less then your working tp pay that truck payment

Happy you commented. I saw it clearly what I need to do weekly to ensure I stay out the red and take home a decent amount. If it’s not 3 loads then it’s not worth it. I’m simply driving to pay them at this point.

@@Ball.Daily11 yea there was no way for me to get up off that load. You’re right about the layover pay being decent cause I’ll never know if I would’ve gotten a load that paid out more. What’s upsetting though is that due to the receiver still not taking me at the new delivery time, that revenue didn’t make payroll. I thought I was gonna get assistance to add it to my payroll and still didn’t. So my pay period only had 1 load🤦🏾‍♀️

@@JusTruknIt Yeah it be like that. Got stuck under a load for 5 days last week and missed pay period so only had one load on mine but my truck paid off so my paycheck was still at least 1000. They actually have a really good dedicated AAK lane when I was there that guarantees 7k gross a week but you gotta put in some time there to qualify for that unfortunately. The guy that trained me when I was there in 2017 still there taking home 4k a week solo lol

I’m gonna assess everything at the end of my 7 weeks run to see if any of this is even worth it. I go to AAK Monday. That would be great run for me because it’s not too far from my house.
