Ah Nixie, what a realistic D&D style charecter... 'Oh wait a minute I have a spare bag of holding and an inventory full of random stuff' as I've not looked at my inventory properly in months and am all about the pet rock... That is so true, especially of the more chaotic players.

Although I keep wondering if I should have it turned into residium, then I keep thinking that it is better left of for another day.

We had a very chaotic player who put as many felled enemies as they could into a bag of holding which the DM allowed figuring they just wanted to be quirky. Over a year later they whipped ALL them out and did some crazy shenanigans with there very high level necromancy spells and it was so utterly unorthodox and the dm rule of cooled it. I regrettably didn't start playing with this group till after but I heard stories lol.

potion of baby strength gives you the ability to grab onto someones finger with an astonishing grip while making unbroken eye contact and occasionally giggling until it gets really, really awkward. 10 psychic damage plus advantage with off-hand bonus attack.

I have to admit, though, that the poor guy who picked that up in my campaign became a bit unpopular with the other characters when it would suddenly start criticising his choice of friends as they hid from enemies, or keep reminding him that he hadn't changed his underwear for a week . . .

I've never liked inventory limits in games. I have a mod for Skyrim that adds a "Haven Bag" a little bag you can climb inside and live in, it has lot's of storage. I have another one that adds a treasure chest home, because apparently I needed two. The treasure chest has a Khajiit trader living in it, hope he's not bored. I fully agree with Nixie, those rocks are important, as is everything else!

There's a spell mod which gives you a chest you can summon, which acts more like a bag of holding. But I prefer the Haven mod because you can organize your stuff in the Haven (it's a room with multiple containers). You can't make a handy haversack mod because that would require reading the player's mind. So it's always a PITA searching through a chest trying to find what you want.

This makes me think... Why is it always assumed that if one player bothered to get a Bag of Holding, that it MUST be used as communal Storage? Nobody Tries to Yank the Rings of Protection off the Fighter's Finger, even though EVERYONE Could use it and in fact the Squishy Mages could probably use it more than the fighter... But for some reason "Oh, YOU have a Bag of Holding, Cool, we can ALL Shove our stuff in there to save space! This way *I* Can save money to get Gear to make myself stronger!"

Exactly, it's very presumptive to assume that 1 party member who happens to have a "Bag of Holding" should be the party Mule. Anyway, that's partially why I decided that if I ever DMed for a group everyone would be given their own personal "Infinite Storage Space".

The strongest character carries the loot because they can carry more. If you get a magic item that makes you the best person to carry loot, you get to carry the loot

@@douglasphillips5870 Ok, Let me put it this way: Each Player character is given a certain Amount of either Money or "shares of Loot" over the course of the game... One of them Spent their money, or their Claimed Share of the Loot, to get a Bag of Holding, but then everyone else just assumes that they can just shove their stuff in that one character's Bag... Essentially, one character Spent a Portion of their Character progression to gain the benefit of carrying more stuff, this is something THEY payed for, not the rest of the Party, Yet for some reason it's Expected for them to share it's use? How would you Feel if the Magic Armor you Bought for your Fighter was considered "Community Property" and the Paladin, who Spent THEIR Share of the Money/Loot Getting a Divine Spellcasting Focus (Which the Fighter can't use), and then one morning the Paladin just goes "Yeah, I'll be using that Armor today, It's my Turn... And Tomorrow we're giving it to the Ranger" This despite the fact that neither of them Pitched in to buy the damn thing... You'd Feel like you'd been Robed, like You had just spent YOUR Limited resources for Progression to get something that you don't even get to use most of the time... The Same thing Applies to Bags of Holding. Remember, Gear, Wither it helps with Combat or it's more Utilitarian, is just as much part of Character Progression as Levels, and getting a Bag of Holding is part of that, you're effectively "Spending YOUR Gear Exp" for everyone else's use(If that's what you WANT to do, that's Fine, But it shouldn't be EXPECTED)... Best Example I can give is when you start a character above Lv 1, and you have some Money to Spend on Magic Items at Character Creation, one Player Buys a Bag of Holding with their Money, and everyone else just gets stuff for THEIR Specific Builds, then because of the type of Item it is, everyone just kinda goes "Oh, Cool, we can use that too even though we didn't pay for it", It would be more or less the same concept as Telling one Player that because they took a Specific Non-Combat Feat, Everyone in the Party gets the Bonus to the relevant ability... You wanted to make a Super Social Character? Well now because YOU Made a Social Build, your Entire Party gets the same bonus for free despite not having built or Spent for it (No, YOU don't get any bonuses for whatever they Picked)... Why? "Because otherwise it'd be unfair they YOU get to be so Good at Socializing and taking up more of the Chatting time at the table just because your Character is good at it" (Replace "Good with Socializing" with Inventory Space, and you get the Idea for the Bag, it's the Same concept)

It has to be worth something.' and later 'Sorry guys, strength too low to carry any camping gear. Please be nice and take some of mine.'

If your group is that anal about "this is mine and that is yours" and they have bags of holding in stores like apples, yes, each person should get their own. At that point, encumbrance should be ignored anyway.

Pay attention to your inventory folks. Our rogue was able to one-shot a mimic with 500 flaming arrows/ball bearings in a slingshot they made, all because they knew what they could use. They did over 50 damage. Our DM hates us now :)
