@@charliebrownies4585 Fuck balancing for multiplayer, it's the most anti fun thing in gaming and always negatively detracts from sp which tends to be what most people play (seriously, the % of people who play multi in sp titles tends to always be stupidly low and the total war series is no exception). Wood elves shouldn't be landing 90% of their shots on trees when shooting through a forest, sharpshooting through dense foliage is kind of their thing after all.

i think a good ability for trees will be to make them hide by default until you move them. Or a capacity making them not detectable for x secs but at the cost to not being able to move them for x secs

I'd have put my archers in the woods behind them and turned off auto fire. Then kept the rest of the army hidden bar one unit similar to what you did so their ground forces move forward. When there's enough space, use the archers to destroy the artillery as quickly as possible.

Cheese the vangaurd unit. If you go to the back corner of the enemies deploy zone there is always a little space at the very tip of the corner you can deploy in. I do that with direwolves to get arty out fast

Wood elves should be able to shoot between forest trees without penalty of missiles wasted, that would be sensed for a race supposed to be great archers and live surrounded by trees... but nope 😭 Could be fun as gameplay to make ambushes within trees, they would be op on these terrains. GG btw, it was a tricky one, but great plan. 👍

Yeah they need some unique features, they need an update. And now that I'm doing an orion campaign, man the way watchers miss too many arrows, they either miss, or focus one single entity of the whole unit and waste like 90% of the arrows. The only good thing is that I got 290 range with them and when the AI tries to reach me their elite units are dead

have you ever tried using the hawk riders as repeat charge air cav with a ranged attack? they do rather well at it with 42 charge bonus. especialy on units on walls.

Hawk Riders have use against an army like chaos, which has little ranged or flying to counter them. This means they can fly over, deal with any hellcannons, and harrass. Outside of that very specific matchup, where the enemy cannot attack back at all so they are certain to be able to unload all of their ammunition in an optimum position... yeah, they're trash. And for their cost, they're even more trash. Amber is valuable man!

Well they're totally outdated. Waywatchers are really good but that's it, that's the only useful unit in the roster along with the dragon, cause it's a dragon you know. The trees are slow and don't do much damage, the wildwood rangers can do damage but with no armor they get wrecked, and the rest of the roster is meh. Wardancers are meh, no armor, eternal guard for some reason die faster that they should, driads are bad, cavalry is meh, some units are useless. They just need more stuff

To be fair, the garrison doesn't have their best unit, the Waywatchers (that's Legend's doomstack). And he was harping on the Deepwood scouts being the ShitShiver Shard versions because they ARE terrible, especially in comparison to normal Deepwood scouts - who have 55 range on them (not worth the extra non-AP damage). They are like the White Lions of Trash of the Wood Elves.

Daniel Fraiz even their dragons are bad compared to the other ones, and I would argue that Wildwood rangers are the only other good unit, since they have amazing damage output that rivals Swordmasters.

And I personally like the wildwood ranger cause as you say they do a lot of damage, their problem is 40 armor, I've had battles against greenskins where 2 units of goblin archers almost murdered 2 of my wildwood rangers. Goblin archers. I saved them cause I moved one wild rider from on side of the battle to the other. And I have a doubt, how does their passive that gives them bonus vs large work? Cause I can't get it to activate
