that looks like an awesome place....we always brought our entire backline just to be safe ......your music is your business card, make sure you have the best sound possible

That's so true! You'd be surprised how many gigging musicians don't treat it as such, which I do not get! But it's your brand at the end of the day!
@SunsetKetch11 ай бұрын
Yesss. Thats why Im always hesistent to do open mics. I never got the appeal of possibly chepanening your brand by having someone else run sound for you...and 20 people.

Caught your comment about some musicians don't play live. Been doing music a long time, and it floors me to think of not playing live. That's just part of the experience. GET OUT OF FREAKING BEDROOM! You can't be taken seriously as a musician till you do.
@jasonstallworth11 ай бұрын
Yes, playing live is a completely different experience and you build a new skill! I actually just played a decent size metal show with my band last weekend at the Brass Mug in Tampa (video of that coming soon)

Appreciate your tips and rundowns man. New to solo gigging myself and just starting. I’ve always played in rock bands.

I have a friend who's the lead singer for a metal band but wanting to get into solo gigs, too. I think you'll have a great advantage as you're used to the stage. But it is a different dynamic with it just being you up there. Also a bit more intimate, which can be cool.
@MichaelCalkins-t8p11 ай бұрын
@@jasonstallworth for sure. Im a guitarist first, and would do some vocals on some songs. I’ve been out of it for 5 or 6 years though I’ll get warmed to being on stage quick again I’m sure. Just want to make sure I don’t suck lol

Having a backup plan can make you actually look like a technical hero, when something does go wrong.... or when an opening act forgets something, and you save the day. Don't forget extra picks and batteries, too.

That’s indeed the best! I wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on a gig because they weren’t prepared and didn’t bring a backup plan!

The amount of times I’ve brought my stuff just to meet the “tech guy” telling me you can’t beat his system and nothing is working for him, it feeds back, half the speakers don’t work and he’s pissed. Meanwhile I’ve been set up with my gear and I just plug in and play. 🤣

What do you use for monitors in this type of situation? Or is it not needed?
@jasonstallworth11 ай бұрын
Most of the time I bring my Electro-Voice floor monitor (you can get by with a much smaller monitor). This particular venue was too small for one Here’s the current set up I’m using for gigs where I bring my system: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bp3Nd2isarWWpposi=lWrZrF_2NlE8PVP9

Staind’s “It’s Been A While” would be a good Live Acoustic to do.

That would be a good one. I stick to the 80s and some 70s…I never really got into mainstream music after that

Is that a feedback reducer in the soundhole of your acoustic guitar? Do you always use that for your gigs, or just when you don't control the positioning of the PA?
@jasonstallworth Жыл бұрын
It’s meant to reduce feedback but this guitar doesn’t really have that issue. A friend gave me the feedback reducer and I just think it’s looks cool
