Motown’s pop sounding songs were better sellers than the R&B sounding tunes. This is a classic example of that point

Love this. It was hard to find on 45rpm, but I found it new.

Thissss issss myyyy songgg! The one and only Smokey could come up with this song. I remember this song so well, how true the lyrics were, and the feelings you got when you see someone you liked in those days and even now. I want to give a shout out to Venice Beach, CA where I was raised in 1960's. Peace and love.

As a young girl just really getting into music I used to wear this song out. Love this song hard to find and most people don't even know about it.

One of the great things about singles in the 60s: the 'B' sides often were classics or rarities unto themselves - thank you for posting this DAVEDJ

A lot of people never noticed that the Title of this song was wrong. It was printed: When the words from Your heart get caught up in Your throat, but he sang: when the words from My heart get caught up in My throat.
@whoknows53757 жыл бұрын
You're right about the title being: "When The Words From Your Heart Get Caught Up In Your Throat" and he does indeed say: "when the words from My heart get caught up in My throat." In the title he's making a generalized statement. In the song he's being specific - talking to HIS girl. He also wrote a song titled, "When The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game" for the Marvelettes. But, in the song Gladys Horton says, "...anytime the hunter gets captured by the game. The title is what it is.

I thought that was Wanda young who sang ,, when the hunter get,s captured by the game ,,. Anyway, I think smokey roberinson is the greatest song writer ever.

You lucky: your copy is on the "globes" issue Tamla label. I saw these records only on the "bars" Tamla issue.
@Musicradio77Network7 жыл бұрын
411Soulman1 You're right! Tamla was using the "Globe/Donut" design right up to this point while they used the "Box/Bar" logo. Tamla was pretty much done with their label designs.

@@shirleyzimmerman6527 I don't think Motown produced a worse piece of music. I am sure Smokey cringes whenever it is mentioned. He probably had all the copies he could find destroyed and the guy who wrote it banished from Motown forever!
