When Therapy Becomes Abusive

For this instalment, I sat down to talk with Linda Pevac/Emma Stevens about her experiences being indoctrinated by her own next-door-neighbour and therapist. When Emma was at her lowest, and seeking therapy recommendations from her neighbourly psychologist, she had no idea what would happen next. A slow and methodical abuse of power led to Emma's imprisonment physically, psychologically and financially at the hands of a person who had been trained to do good, but used her knowledge of the mind to do the complete opposite. Emma' memoir "A Fire is Coming" is a timely, heartbreaking expose on the darkest sides of therapy.

Quite a bizarre experience this woman relates but believable. I would think it if not unethical at least in poor taste to offer (never mind force) one's services upon a next-door neighbor. A referral would seem far more suitable. i know there are some genuinely concerned with helping but for more and more it is an excuse to prey upon the vulnerable and traumatized, and extract a fine sum for doing so...
