Y'all acting like English folks don't also have variations on accent that people struggle with is wild. 'Foreign accents' are always more difficult to process than your native one, regardless of where that accent is 'from'.

@@kashiichan I could be here all day if I enumerated every dialect or accent of English that is sufficiently different from the standard accent. And I did toss in a couple of English accents. If you meant that English people also struggle with accents that are non-native, then yes, I know, Chaucer made the same observation with his eyren. Though somehow i get the feeling I'm missing the point you were trying to make.

​@@AsexTwinsome films don't embed the translation into the video despite people asking this to be done. This is because it needs to work with multiple subs as well as subs. If English subtitles are embedded, that not useful if someone watches the Spanish dub because they don't know English, or if they're using Spanish subtitles you get double up on subtitles. The big flaw is that these films don't come with a second set of subtitles though. It's either having everyone subtitled, or no one subtitled.

I also hate it when they censor the subtitles but not the audio like I'm deaf, not a child! The purpose of subtitles is to reflect what's being said in the audio so when they don't do that it's like they're just trying to baby us deaf people!

I was suddenly reminded of a list of writing tips on things to avoid in my old English teachers room that incorporated the thing to avoid in the tip. Example: avoid alliteration always. And these videos really have that same vibe

Was watching welcome to Wrexham (the documentary about Ryan Reynolds Football/Soccer club) and it’s really funny how the show is obviously set In the UK but any accent that isn’t fully clear for a American is subtitled, including Most fans that they interview, half of the players and the main goal scorer.

Totally get why Pablo and David don’t jive together. David is a good, honest dude, while Pablo is a lying, (probably) cheating bastard.
