Oh so if I’m using a moist cake, for example Betty Crocker, I don’t need the simple syrup. This is very informative. Thank you.

Greetings from Bangalore, India. I just chanced upon your video while searching to learn about moistening cakes with sugar syrup. Watched several in fact, before yours. Your video is very informative and clear as to its message. I hadn’t known about what type of cakes need moistening. I still have to watch more to see how actually sugar syrup is applied, particularly when I don’t wish to cut the cake into two or more parts. Thank you for the video. Cheers.

If I’m wrapping my cake and putting in the fridge overnight. Do I apply syrup before placing in fridge or when I take it out to decorate?

When you take it out to decorate, after it comes to room temperature

Thanks for this video! Would you recommend brushing a flavored simple syrup on pound cakes?
@bakingwithamari3 ай бұрын
Welcome. Generally I don't usually feel the need to add syrup to pound cake, it's usually quite rich and moist. However if it's for other purposes, eg. To have it last longer and to add a complimenting flavor, you can definitely try it out 👍

Thanks for the video. It's informative enough. Can the syrup be applied on a chiffon cake?
@bakingwithamari3 ай бұрын
To be honest, Chiffon cakes are quite moist and fluffy and should not require any syrup as they are one of the sponge cake types that aren't dry. However, if that is you're preference, then yes - you can add syrup

Good presentation! Please, can you moist a cake with sugar syrup and keep it outside the fridge for a day or two?
@bakingwithamari2 жыл бұрын
Honestly it depends on what type of cake it is; some last longer than others. However; if it's not a very hot climate/environment; you can definitely moist a cake with sugar syrup, cover with cling film or place in air-tight container to avoid drying and store in a cool, dry place for up to 2 days - yes.

Do you use the syrup just before icing? Does it matter of you use it a day or two before? Before or after freezing?
@bakingwithamari Жыл бұрын
Hi, syrup is used before icing yes. It's the only way to actually get the cake wet, before putting the icing/frosting. Best to use it same day, just make sure it's cooled to room temperature. No need to freeze since it changes from being a liquid into a solid, which will be unhelpful in terms of actually 'wetting' the cake. So best is when it's still a liquid

PLEASE HELP...I'm making a choclate mayonnaise cake and putting it in a bundt pan and filling it with moouse. My question is ,do you think Syrup is necessary to keep this cake moist in the fridge for two days? Or will I be fine without the syrup, do to the fact it's only two days?
@bakingwithamari11 ай бұрын
the cake sounds like it has lots of ingredients with high levels of fat, so I don't think syrup is necessary

Can you do it on a carrot cake
@bakingwithamari Жыл бұрын
Carrot cakes are generally quite moist & usually don't need syrup so if you have a good, authentic Carrot cake recipe - I wouldn't advice to add syrup. It would be more soggy than anything in the end. Syrups as mentioned above; work well for sponge cakes or drier butter cake recipes

I do not like using simple syrup at all. If you have a good recipe you shouldn't even need it.
@bakingwithamari11 ай бұрын
Every baker has their own preference as mentioned above in the video. Though I agree on that when it comes to butter cakes. Most sponge cakes though do need some syrup
