I just found your channel and I had a baby a month ago! This is all completely true!!! I ignored early labor until I couldn’t handle the strong contractions anymore. I ended up getting admitted when I was 9cm and had my baby with 15 mins of pushing haha. I enjoy your videos and all the great advice 😊

As for my husband, he's been sweet and gives me lots of back massages and leg rubs. Have been having awful leg cramping at night and he's a light sleeper so I feel bad when I groan. He'll wake up, though, and rub my legs in the middle of the night. I know he'll be supportive in labor even though we're both a bit freaked out about the whole thing.

Shout out to the partners. Personal tip is wear quick dry clothing if your preggo plans on getting in a tub/shower. Also if your SO starts a youtube channel/labor prep school, be sure you wear an outfit/facial hair situation you are comfortable having up on the internet forever.

I am pregnant with my first baby after a miscarriage last year. 35 weeks tomorrow👶🏻✨ I definitely do not want to go to the hospital too early. I'm worried though about how to handle the increasing intensity of contractions while wanting to stay at home in a familiar environment for as long as I can. I have faith in my body, however, never saving given birth before, it is so hard to predict what my brain will be telling me! Anyhow, am glad I came across your channel and I look forward to your next video. Thanks🌞🌿🍁

Due around November 24th. This is my second child, ten years later yikes! Lol Seems not a lot has changed on those ten years. Had a horrible experience the first time around. Was a week late, no complications, was given a date to be induced. I was 22 and didn’t have a lot of information, nor did my doctor offer it. So I agreed. I was in early labor the day I was supposed to be induced, instead of sending me home they broke my water, gave me pitocin, I waited until the last possible minute to get an epidural. The entire process was a nightmare. They missed with the epidural and it was causing serious pain in the injection area, redid the epidural catheter, I couldn’t even feel my arms, couldn’t feel if I was pushing of not, couldn’t walk, couldn’t move. They just kept telling me you’ll be fine it’ll pass. The doctor tried to tell me he was going to send me for a C-section, I asked if he was in distress and the doctor said nope he’s fine so I refused! He was pissed! So he decided in seconds to give me an episiotomy. After that my son was born but I couldn’t hold him because I couldn’t feel or lift my arms. I am so scared!! I don’t want to be induced, they shouldn’t have because there was no medical reason for it and I should have been stronger and clarified there was no reason.

With my first baby, the water broke at about 5AM but no contractions yet at all... called the doctor and he looked at the clock and my file and said GO NOW. BECAUSE IF YOU WAIT YOU COULD BE STUCK IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND HAVE THE BABY IN THE CAR... kinda think his idea was needed in your thinking...... best as always..

I am due at the end of January. This is our first baby and me and my husband are both don't even know what to expect. I want to try a water birth and I feel so much pressure from people who find out that I want to do it. They keep trying to change my mind and telling me how it will be painful and I'll want to do an epidural. I'm trying not to listen to anybody because this is my body and I'll experience it in my own way.

Good for you!!! I don’t have enough (pardon my language) “balls” do go outside of the hospital birth and there are no birthing centers within an hour of where we live. Ignore the people questioning you!! You are strong and you can do it!!

Just listen to your body and work with the contraction. Try not to fight them. It will prolong your labor. When you feel like you can't take anymore its almost over.

Try to remember quotes that you can say over and over. " I don't have long left." " I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me." Those are ones that got me through it. Also shaking my hips from side to side. And deep, loud groans. Try not to tense up.

I'm due on the 25th of October, I was having pre-labour symptoms, stomach cramping, back pains all last week, I was told I could go into labour this week but to my disappointment, my pre-labour symptoms have slow down. This is my first baby and I can't believe how long pre-labour can last, I thought I'd just go into labour and have a baby at the end of it.

I don’t feel supported or cared for even though I’ve people around me who are present and I guess they are here for me if I ask.. I’ve been getting a lot of menstrual like back pain and pelvic pressure mostly at night.. Despite feeling defeated and tired I am certain I don’t want to go to the hospital too early I want to wait as long as I can.. Im sure this state of mind is not going to help me :(

I know it gets tiring....9months is a long time....but let us just hang in there! And focus on the good things..especially the fact that we have been blessed with this pregnancy...while others all over the world are still struggling with conceiving. Hope that helps. Hang in there!♡ We can do this!

could we have a conversation about how to SAY NO TO THOSE DOCTORS? Doctors tell patients what they are going to do. The minute the patient says no - I (the doula) get kicked out of the room because they assume I am the problem. The doula has to be the problem here, because moms aren't smart enough to know their options and their rights. Yesterday an OBGYN looks at me when a birther said she was refusing pit (after only being in labor for 45 minutes). Doctor told my client that if she refused and her babies dies it is not his problem. WTF? Then he said who is that woman behind me (speaking of me). "That is my doula, Ginger Byron." He turned to me and told me i could not be in the room. Mom advocates for her desire for me to be in the room (single mother). Doc literally said, "I do not care what you want, she makes me uncomfortable and is not allowed in here. She needs to leave now." He did not allow me back in until my client submitted to starting pit. Emergency c section of course. booooo

Im not due till March 2019, but ive been researching and getting as much info i need. Im excited to have the baby, but its been a very rocky 4 months and i want to be prepared for the worst and the good. I've been watching labor videos to kinda get the understanding on how it can be and to kinda boost my enthusiasm about it. I've been pretty secretive about it, because im in that generation in our family that no one really cares and they are not afraid to let you know. But they are also not helpful at all with gathering the info i need to know. But ive been in the middle of having dehydration contractions are 17wks and based off that i know they are going to start to hurt worse, when my actual time to come will. So this video was really helpful. However with the 4 tips you gave, do we ignore early labor past the 5-1-1 rule or? and at what point in contractions is considered crowning? What if the water breaks and contractions are still very far apart? When is the best time to get an epidural, when is it too late? is there such thing as preventing tearing? how long can the pushing process last? How many pushes are normal?

I'm due in May and the hospital is about and hour and 20 mins from us. We are planning to go stay at my mom's when I get the first sign of labor, which for me is usually my water breaking. She lives only 15-20 mins from the hospital. I've had 6 kids and none of them have been fast, 9 to 13 hours, one baby was even almost 24 hrs before he came.

I now this is an old video - how I thought that my answer my help regardless. I have had labors ranging from 39 minutes (yes...minutes...) to 18 hours of active labor (yep...hours...). I go in pretty much right away because I have NO IDEA how quickly my labors will be, I've also had deliveries where I've literally told the nurse, there was no possible way I was 8cm dilated, I was NOT in enough pain. Sure enough, within ten minutes I was crowning. For me, ignoring early labor would NOT be a great idea, I would not have been going in at even 8cm with some of my babies. I have also gone in, baby 8, and the nurse literally told me "oh this is false labor". It wasn't until I was vomiting all over the room suddenly, that they finally decided I was in "real" labor, this was a couple hours after I got there, and sure enough, I was 5cm. With baby 7, I told my nurse that I was ready to push, I had to push and I couldn't stop it. She told me, it is not the urge to push, so please do not. The baby was born seconds later. I was told I wasn't making proper "transition noises"! Baby 6, I went in with horrible back pain that came and went, but it was strong enough where I thought okay, if this isn't real, it's okay to be sent home, I was only 40 weeks. I got there, they told me it was just back pain, and they were coming back with a prescription for tylenol, when my water broke and they checked me. Sure enough I was almost fully effaced and 5cm. A side note on dilation, I have walked around at 5.5cm for WEEKS, no labor. One of those times was my longest labor, when my water broke so I had to go in.

What are your thoughts if your water breaks but don't contract easily? First pregnancy didn't feel any contractions. Went to hospital 12 hrs after I assume the water may have broke and was only 2cms. Had to go on Pitocin and didn't feel it until at 5cm. Then 2nd baby definitely knew my water broke and had inconsistent contractions. Went to the hospital at 2cm and still had to go on Pitocin.

Why didn’t you opt to go back home until labor really kicked into gear? Or you could have tried laboring longer without pitocin at the hospital.
