I JUST gave up on 4 seedlings that just didn’t take to some cheap soil. I was discouraged thinking it was too late to try and plant the rest of my seeds here in LA. After watching this I am excited to get up early and sow all the peas I have!

No, you got time! Peas are one of the last cool season crops we plant here in Zone 9/10 because it really can't take the heat! Good soil is essential and so is mulching around the plant. Check out our mulching video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKHTfmCFj9uUrpo

@@SanDiegoSeedCompany I did! I restarted in better quality soil and used biodegradable pods to germinate so I could pot-up without disturbing that large taproot. I just built a trellis with my own designed 3d printer parts, string and dowel rods. Also went to the Sunset BLVD Nursery here in LA at Fountain and Sunset for the first time yesterday and left with Albion strawberries and some pollinator-attractors (vincas and snapdragons). I would love to see your seeds sold there. Is there a SDSC discord? I would love to share pictures/tap your experience for tips and tricks in the garden! Thanks for following up with me. I’m the only one in my entire circle of friends who loves to garden, I could talk about gardening all day with whomever would listen.

Just discovered your channel and I’m loving everything you’re sharing. So very helpful. Appreciate you 😊🌱🌿 Would you happen to have videos/tutorials to show how to tell when peas or any crops are done for the season? How to remove them or incorporate back into the soil for nutrients? (As you mentioned here, pulling out the peas then replacing them with beans) Thank you ☺️

Highly recommended these for a huge harvest. The pods are still good if you let the pea seeds grow a bit!

If I planted my peas in October in Dallas they would have frozen. But I may have gotten a small crop in before the great freeze. When I took out my long-bean vines, around October, I should have had sprouted peas ready to go in. I should have peas ready to transplant now, to be replaced by long beans in May/June when the Sugar Snaps burn out.

@@SanDiegoSeedCompany - Several things really surprised me. Cilantro and parsley and garlic survived unprotected -6°F in the ice and snow. The mature tops of the parsley burned but the new growth looks very healthy. The same is true of my rosemary and Mexican oregano. My fennel looks like it went through a furnace. It survived 20°F handily before the arctic blast.

Wonderful information. When the beans start to harden in the spring. If I harvest them to shell, will they continue to grow? Thank you for your knowledge. I have 30 plants; I enjoy them soft or hard shelled. They are delicious in soups. Thank you

Is it okay to Plant these seeds on the End of June in Northern Illinois?

When is your first frost date? Most peas are about 60 days which means you should have time but you will want to make sure they mature before. Frost kills them. Also keep in mind peas like cooler weather. You may have to protect them from the harsh summer sun.
