I use this too fo rcleaning. my husband hates the smell of vinegar. so I have to cut back on the vinegar, but with Medical conditions such as having FIBROMYALGIA AND LUPAS... it really helps to stay away from chemicals and especially foods you eat. to cut back on the pain and flareups. and that does include shampoos and conditioner's. along with store bough deodrant. I found Andrea's Butje deodrant recipe and made it WOW!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT so thank you so much for that recipe. I have so many flavors and my favorite is the grapefruit lemon I made. when I made the recipe you have with Patchouli I know it is such a very strong note of Essential oils that I really cut back on the amount. and added lemon and Rose absolute to the mix. (very sensual smell). when making my cleaner's. I do use white vinegar and a large glass jar and place the citrus peels in the jar and pour the white vinegar in there. let it soak for about a month. I shake it for a few minutes every other day. I sometimes even put it upside down for a week alternating. then I strain it, and grind up the peels and use it for my seasonings. dilute the citrus vinegar for cleaning and yes I even add the E.O to the mix in a spray bottle as well. the Juice of the citurs gets juiced and frozen and used in drinks and cooking recipes as well so NOTHING on my citrus fruits gets wasted.

Great yum yum, but I would use a glass container for citrus oils TY
@aromatherapyoils6 жыл бұрын
I usually prefer to use glass with essential oils. If you’re going to use plastic, I recommend using PET plastic. PET plastic is known as a non-reactive plastic that doesn’t leach. When glass isn’t ideal, PET plastic is a good choice.

Andrea, thanks for another wonderful video and recipe. You are always so inspiring!!! And thank you for your answer to my last question. There must be a chart somewhere that helps us convert drops vs ml vs oz but I couldn't find it so thanks again
@aromatherapyoils6 жыл бұрын
Martha, with drops it is an estimation of 25-30 drop to equal one milliliter (ml). This will vary depending on the viscosity of the essential oils you're using.

Andrea! Thank you so much for another inspiring video. I went out and made this surface spray straight away. Thanks for such a thoughtful blend. It compliments the vinegar and I couldn't even smell it. If anything I wish the scent lasted longer! :). I did notice my benches cleaned beautifully without too much effort but I really needed to scrub my induction cook top (it had starch residue from pasta overflow). It also left smears on my induction cooktop - the rest of the benches were fine. Do I need to use castile soap or dishwashing liquid to help cut through starch or grease? Is there also an ideal time to leave the spray on tougher or dirtier spots? Thanks so much, watching you is captivating :).
@aromatherapyoils6 жыл бұрын
You might try adding an ounce of Castile soap to your mixture to help cut through grease.

Hi Andrea, i like your videos very much and already try some recipes and it works very well for me. I just have one question: since that lemon stain the marble countertop, does it happens with essencial oil too? Thank you for spending you time answering. (Sorry my english)
@aromatherapyoils6 жыл бұрын
This is a great question, MPS. Essential oils can harm certain counter top surfaces. I might suggest contacting the manufacturer of your countertops to ask them about what is safe to use on that type of surface.

Hi Veta! Yes, this blend would be lovely to use as an air freshener! We would suggest leaving out the Vinegar and using: 16 ounces Distilled Water 1 ml Lemon (Citrus limon) 1 ml Orange (Citrus sinensis) 1 ml Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi)

Can this be used on granite counters? I hear not to use citrus oils on granite which is what I have, if it’s not okay on granite what can I use?
@aromatherapyoils6 жыл бұрын
Cristy Kenniff, some counter materials don't like vinegar, some don't like essential oils. I have silestone counters and I don’t have experience with granite so I couldn’t say for certain what essential oils other than lemon would be safe for your countertop. I would recommend checking with the manufacturer or you may find information through a google search to guide you.

Hi Andrea, if I use vodka instead of distilled water would that be considered a preservative? I wanted something to last longer. I live alone and do need to clean as often. How does it work on grease? Stove?
@aromatherapyoils6 жыл бұрын
Using vodka would extend the shelf life of the cleaning spray.

Does this have to be made in a glass bottle or can it be plastic?
@aromatherapyoils4 жыл бұрын
Hi Karen! Glass is always ideal and our first preference for storing our blends. However, you can use plastic when you’re blending essential oils into a carrier oil, water, or gel. Sometimes plastic is handy, like for hand soap, travel, cleaning products, or blends you’ll use in the bathroom (where your hands might get slippery). For that, we recommend using PET plastic, as it’s known to be non-reactive. Hope this helps! 💜

@aromatherapyoils5 жыл бұрын
Depending on the fruit, the juice might be sticky for cleaning. We are always happy to suggest substitutes if you are out of an essential oil. In this surface spray you could use other anti-microbial oils, such as Lavender, Tea Tree or even Peppermint. Substituting with these essential oils is a great way to create different aromas and they would all work well too!

I would love to make a smaller amount to take to work. Can you tell me how much should use in a 2 ounce spray bottle? Also could I use only one or two oils and if so how much would I use? Sorry but math is not my strongest skill.
@carolfolk46027 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Wow, I was guessing much less. So glad I asked. (I said math is not my strong point.) :) My office is quite small with very little ventilation. I will use it to clean my phone and such and also spritz in the air for germs. I'll add a bit more and test it. You are wonderful! Thanks!
@aromatherapyoils6 жыл бұрын
Carol, I would use distilled water (almost 2 ounces) with a bit of vinegar than add a total of 15-20 drops of essential oil. Let me know how you make out with this in your office.
What oils do you recommend cleaning with when one has an indoor cat. I understand citrus oils are toxic to cats and my cat is very curious! Bonus points if you know of any that are toxic for indoor dogs too.

At Aromahead we are, and always have been, very cautious about oils and animals. Animals are sensitive and it is good to be aware of that. We don’t recommend using oils directly on small animals and pets. It’s generally fine diffusing small amounts of oils, for a few minutes, in a well ventilated room as long as the pet can freely leave the space if it feels uncomfortable. If the animal isn’t free to leave the space or can’t go outside or away from the oils, then I would not diffuse. For more information on this topic, I would suggest reaching out to Kelly Holland Azzaro at Ashi Aromatherapy - www.ashitherapy.com
