Hard to believe ADT and its side effects haven’t been improved upon in 30+ years. Part of the problem is that it does work to fight PC (in many cases extremely well and for a very long time) and QOL is not a high concern for the medical community.

Finishing radiation treatment soon. How do I know the result other than watching PSA? Petscan or mri ? Will they show what we need to know?

Why not try to find something less invasive? All the side effects from all treatment options SUCKS!!! Would these doctors what all these side effects? It’s time to start thinking about patients.

We are seldom seen as patients, they look at us like cells in a Petrie dish. They only want to make money, sell outrageously expensive drugs, and made their statistics look great. Never real concern about our quality of life. You never hear about the men who died from the side effects or who committed suicide. Ever heard of a Death Certificate stating cause of death as a result of ADT. 0:15 0:15

Had prosectimy..3 months check psa is 3.5...going for radiation...but reluctant to hormone therapy..I'm a healthy 60 years old..don't need any extra issues....so is it wise ?

Make sure you get FULL DISCLOSURE about both benefits and the horrific side effects of ADT CASTRATION. ADT is NOT generally well tolerated like your doctor will parrot the BIG PHARMA SALES PROPAGANDA. ADT damages you mentally, emotionally, and physically, and the effects last months and years after discontinuation, and up to twenty percent of older men NEVER RECOVER ABOVE CASTRATE LEVEL. Once you get ALL the facts, then, and only then can you give your FREE AND FULLY INFORMED CONSENT to this cruel and barbaric treatment.

I have had 1 firmagon, 2 Lupron, 39 radiation treatments also had a THULUP surgery. Beginning figures were 18+ PSA, Gleason 9, grade 5, cancer did not spread. Am I getting better?

Combination therapy (of radiation) is seed implants (brachytherapy} plus IMRT. The seeds impart higher intensity local treatment while the beam (IMRT) gives a broader less intense treatment.

I have high volume Gleason 6 with one of 8 cores re-examined and found to be a Gleason 7 so I want radiation but have hypogonadism and have low testosterone to begin with. I am okay with stopping my replacement of testosterone but dread the side effects of hormone therapy. Quality of life matters a lot to me and being a enuch with anxiety attacks, hot flashs, depression and on and on do not seem a decent trade off. My goal is to attack the tumors as best as you can but spare as much a quality of life as possible.

Don't rely on your doctors for an accurate description of the horrific side effects of ADT, or what it really is, CHEMICAL CASTRATION. They are either just parroting Big Pharma sales propaganda, it they are willfully withhold crucial information. They never tell you that a lot of men who have been coerced into ADT say they would rather be dead, than suffer a few extra months by living their lives as ZOMBIE EUNUCHS. TRY to get factual information on HOW MUCH BENEFIT you will get from ADT, AND accurate information on the real side effects and demand answers to testosterone recovery after ADT ends because up to 20% of older men NEVER RECOVER ABOVE CASTRATE LEVEL. They don't want to give you that information. Don't be pushed into any particular ADT treatment as some have less QOL destroying side effects. If you decide on injections, perhaps start with only a two or three month shot, rather than a six month shot, so you can bail out if you can't tolerate the effects. It's not all black or white.. there are many shades of Grey in choosing an ADT medication. Some might be a bit less effective but more easily tolerated. Remember, you will be better able to deal with the hellish effects IF you made it your own decision and gave free and fully informed consent. I am not trying to discourage ADT treatment because it is the only viable option. Just know what you are getting into BEFORE these toxins are forced on you.
