Yo, thanks! I spend a REALLY long time fine-tuning my tones lmao. The general rhythm tone is Neural DSP’s Fortin Cali, second amp, all knobs on 4, all switches left. If I start with that, I can usually get pretty close to most rock songs just by adjusting how hard I play, which guitar I use (mostly a Les Paul Studio, sometimes the Tele I play in the video) If that doesn’t get me there, I start fiddling with the knobs. Gain is the first thing I’ll adjust, then mids, then lows. If that doesn’t get me there I’ll just try different amps entirely & swap stuff around until it sounds good!

@@joseywales1192 i'd love to give you some advice, but honestly i don't really know it myself haha. Maybe don't force it too much, it's more relaxed than it sounds. I don't really try to get the raspiness by pushing more air out, but rather by trying to sing the highest note i possibly can and do more of a powerful whisper (so the higher notes are mostly the ones i rasp a bit more) - if that makes any sense. And what also helps alot is having an already slightly wasted voice. So just shout around a little and then give it a try^^

Okay okay okay okay… I’d keep my Les Paul, since it’s what I use to record most stuff. I could pitch it down if I needed a bass, or I could use Submission Audio’s Punk Bass plugin and GetGoodDrums to replace those instruments. I could keep doing these videos with just that guitar, ezpz But my favourite one to play is bass, by far! Coming up with runs, creating and releasing tension using transition notes, the way it feels when you really dig in and smash some chords Mark Hoppus style? Plus they like never go out of tune, not like guitars do. I love bass so much lmao. Like, my best friend is a REALLY GOOD bassist, and sometimes he’s like “I can play bass for u you know” and I’m like “no sir you aren’t taking that from me it’s my favourite part” so, yeah… *bass*
