Most people are afraid to tackle projects themselves. You always learn something even if it’s I’m never going that again. I have literally saved hundreds of thousands of dollars tackling projects on my own and get a lot of satisfaction from the learning process.

in NZ our vehicles dont get the chance to get that bad, every year we need to take them for an inspection and even surface rust around structural area will be a fail, and most times you cant fix yourself, you gotta have the fix certified

There is the right way the wrong way and the make it work way. It’s an old work truck she don’t have to look good she just need to work. Little disappointed you did not use 5200 on the windshield though 😂

Here's a tip I learned from another guys channel - when you have a hole like that put a piece of chicken wire in the hole. Now you have a base for the filler material to adhere to in the hole.

Should have got a extra rattle can and painted the entire roof. That surface rust can turn onto more holes faster than you would like. Not making fun... I truly understand patching something to make it functional again. I do quite a bit of patching.

There are tons of different types of kits available, main thing is that you get the little pad that attaches to the drill or the polisher than you can sway out the different types of pads based on grit and application: amzn.to/3TAj9cy But the actual polisher was this: shop.snapon.com/product/CTPP861-Series-14.4-V-MicroLithium-Brushless-Polish-Prep-Tools/14.4-V-MicroLithium-Cordless-Polish-Prep-Tool-Kit-(Red)/CTPP861K2 Lol I don't think I paid $600 for mine lol wow prices have gotten stupid!

Always a good skill to have and with all the great YT content the “I don’t know how” excuse really can’t work anymore. With things costing more I’d like to see more DIY vs complaining about the cost of life as people go to a car wash, through the drive through for meals and coffee, and pay to have their lawns mowed or houses cleaned…tons of $ is spent frivolously

DIY is a choice if you love working on mechanical things and have the tools and skill to do it. Otherwise your wasting time and money. Always start on small things to build up all of the above.

Should have rust converted first then fixed it like your fixing a hole in a boat to last onther 8 years. It's funny if you took you car to a panel beaters and spend hundreds of dollars it would only last 2 years maybe
