Every UT applicant needs to see this video, whether they got in or are still waiting. It's really good and makes me feel better. I'll be in college by the time your book comes out, but I'm looking forward to it anyway :)

Thanks for the feedback. I intend to make similar kinds of content moving forward, but perhaps on a different channel that isn't specific to UT-Austin. The system is broken, and UT is but one small symptom among a much larger diseased body.

UT Austin certainly has a much higher ceilings for potential of students than other colleges in the state and so many kids that excel at these high competitive high schools in Texas aren’t able to attend UT and their potential is limited because of it. This definitely doesn’t even include the anxiety and uncertainty us students have to go through.

I’ve been stressed for weeks waiting for UT to get back to me and I needed this. Everything I have been thinking and feeling is now validated.

Thank you for your video. My son did receive his decision. He was offered admission to UT Austin but did not get his major nor his second major. He will start in undergraduate studies. He was indeed disappointed but now he sees it as an opportunity to make sure that he does want to be in the field he has chosen. He is #6 in his class w/a 3.8 gpa. He was able to get in because he was in the top 6% so he will take advantage of that. Do they let everyone in that is in the top 6% of their class in Texas? It is such a competitive program. Your videos have been helpful.

Oh lord, if the delays for freshman applications are this bad. I cant imagine how long it's going to take to hear back from my transfer app. How do they expect us to actively defer other enrollments on the off chance that we're accepted by UT? Some of us have to LITTERALY MOVE TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY to attend UT, I can't wait for an admissions decision until July.

Until this situation changes, the recipe is to just apply to as many school as might make sense and tell yourself you are happy to get in anywhere. Then you switch your focus to enjoying the holidays, spending quality time with your friends who will scatter in a few months, and do the things you didn't do junior year because you were too busy focusing on grades.

UT website says by February 1st for kids that got apps in early. Still nothing! Do they send out decisions on weekends?

I’m assuming that applying by the priority deadline gives some advantage since these applicants are told they will hear back by early February. This means those spots are gone by the time final decisions are made for RD applicants. However, I know some RD applicants have been admitted before priority deadline applicants receive any notice. Why even bother having a priority deadline if it makes no difference?

right😭?!!

I agree! I applied RD 2 minutes before the deadline closed and was accepted into my first-choice major (biology, College of Natural Science). I was a non-auto and was notified on January 28th. Also, my application was deemed late bc my hs didn't send my transcript on time and was not to be reviewed by UT. I appealed and won (notified of appeal decision on Jan. 21st, then accepted a week later). My friend applied in October under the priority deadline! She was notified on February 1st and also was capped.

Hi. Texas Ex here. My niece applied and just found out she was cap’d. She didn’t submit her SAT scores and those were a pretty solid score. What do you feel about appeals and the realities? Thanks!

I got capped, I know that automatic to UT Austin only with liberal arts, but do I have a chance to get into college of natural sciences if my gpa is like over 3.8 for the freshman year in another UT?

I'm still sitting here waiting for a transfer decision. I don't especially expect to get in as a postbacc student, but it would really be nice to at least get a decision before I have to register for classes at my #2 school.
