When Will Non League Football Return?

Barrow will be very angry should the 2019/20 be declared void. They have waited nearly 50 years for a return to the EFL and are now so close to achieving it.

Don't most non-league clubs have players on contract up to 1 May? If so, the costs of getting a squad together after 1 May and paying further wages will be prohibitive for clubs to continue the league season, I would imagine, especially after having endured a couple of months with no income (most clubs make money from their clubhouse but most of these are shut and there have been no gate receipts etc). My guess is there will be no further non-league football this season and that there will be a big bust-up about promotions/relegations with threats of legal action … the result will be that we start again in September (or whenever) as if 2019/20 had never happened. This season has to be played out, whenever we restart. It is only fair. With internationals and the Euros postponed it gives a window to extend the season. Once we know when this season is due to end we can then plan for next season, even if the start is delayed to later than normal. It may be that it has to be shorter for the Euros to be played but if they are put back to next year then they could be played in July instead of June to give the leagues time to finish next season. Hopefully by 2022/23 we can be back on track.

The premier league probably could set up a fund to save these clubs but the only people that the Premier league want to share their money with is the Premier league... Hopefully covid19 will be over in the summer and we get going again but you just don't know do you!
