Hi, I’m a Worksop Town fan. As much as you posting a video onto KZbin is good for us, as it’s gains exposure onto our cause, I think you just needed to research into why we are asking for the £30,000. Last season was a fantastic season, as you’ve mentioned we won the League with 22 consecutive wins and we also won the League Cup but we did NOT spend above our means. We had a Top 6-8 budget, it’s a solid budget but realistically it shouldn’t have been a budget to achieve what we did. Unfortunately, I’m not going to go into everything on a comment for KZbin but our previous chairman who’s now left the club, saw Worksop as a cash cow and pocketed all the money we made last season and then ran away from the club without a trace. Through our success, especially towards the back end of the run we saw huge crows. Evidently 1,628 people showed up for our game against Penistone Church who were second at the time. We didn’t receive any money from this game as it went to the owners pocket. Like I said I’m not going into the all the details on here, but just because we are Non-League club doesn’t mean we’ve spent huge amounts to gain success. Good video but more research required👍🏻

Thanks for the info and insight! Like I said in the video, it wasnt clear (as far as I could find), whether the debt was a result of an overspend or something else - unfortunately it's the latter. My aim for the video was to give coverage to the situation and help raise awareness to do my bit to try to help save the club - fingers crossed you guys get through it! 🙌

I found it extremely ironic when Jeff Stelling had the bottle to tweet about this when at Sky they could easily take away and spare £50k - 80k to save the club off the Super 6 money.

You know Jeff isn't in charge of Super 6, right? And Sky Sports would never start pumping money into one-off crises or they'd be inundated with requests.

Though £30k isn’t the “greatest sum” for some clubs, it would keep my club going for 4-5 years! (Dunstable Town) I sympathise with their situation, but a lot of the times these problems are brought on by themselves!

There has actually been more than 1 incarnation of Worksop since they originally formed so not quite the 4th oldest club

It’s a massive shame , and btw VfL Bochum were founded in 1848 I’m pretty sure

The sports club with which Bochum is affiliated was founded in 1848, but the footballing department didn't come until much, much later.

Its sad when these happen, but I agree. Clubs are important local institutions but they don't have a right to exist for the sake of existing. They should be sustained by own fans and they should spend on what they can afford to spend based on that revenue. If fans are not willing to spend money to keep the institution alive, then it just shows that it is not a economic priority to begin with. Better to be alive and sustainable (which to be fair they have been doing for a long time), then to just waste money and go in a blaze. You are a local institution, your longevity and continued existence is everything. Trophies and glory are good, but is secondary to being an institution for the locals.

I disagree with the take about higher level clubs not sharing their profits. I don't think it should be some massive amount but they operate generally at the expense of smaller clubs and when many of the big clubs were coming up, they didn't have nearly as much major competition for attendances, sponsors, etc. It's also a bit of a tax on the massive foreign investment at the highest levels of the game, too. Yes they earn the money themselves but football is an ecosystem, no club is truly fully independent of the system and if you have 'won' by surviving or even winning the highest levels, I believe you should pay back into the system you came through, at least a bit.

I agree that the comparison between Tesco and a corner shop was a poor one. Tesco arent suddenly going to find themselves in thw 3rd tier of supermarkets if they are badly run.
