In an update Monday night, CenterPoint said customers in the hardest-hit areas "could experience extended outages and should plan accordingly."

FYI you don't pay centerpoint for electricity. secondly blame the news weather forecast folks because they predicted the hurricane to hit mexico and the southern coast of texas originally. Lastly, name one city that was hit by a hurricane that infrastructure wasn't impacted in the slightest?

One reason is because people don't turn off unnecessary lights or electronics. Two of my neighbors had outside lights on during the hurricane. Why? No one is outside your house in a hurricane. Living without power is hard and frustrating, but you will have to wait for up to 5 days for power restoration. When you have 2 million customers out and only 20,000 linemen, obviously the math indicates a long time to restore power (don't forget about the hazards linemen have to deal with also). Another reason to not restore power all at once is due to demand skyrocketing for AC after restoration; you do not want to overload the power grid either (the person who wrote this had no power for 17 days after Ida in 2021).
@JustLikeHeaven7713 күн бұрын

usa can spend billions on suppllying weapons but will not spend a penny to upgrade all power lines to underground
@tonyburzio410713 күн бұрын
Power isn't a "wave your magic wand" thing. There was a flood. Every house that had water inside gets tagged and has to be reinspected. If there is damage, the wallboard has to be removed and the wiring redone. This is excruciating slow, as we found out in Florida. However. we love our linemen! As we were evacuating north, the south bound lanes of the freeway were all line trucks heading south, into the storm. Now be quiet and wait.

Here in Florida our Power Company will trim your trees if they deem it a risk to their Power lines being damaged during a storm.

People need to demand states and dhs look how DeSantis handled Ian and take lessons. He proved there is no need fir all this suffering. He had florida up and running in 3 DAYS!!!!!!! Those crews should have been there waiting.

As a Floridian we are used to dealing with this and it doesn't matter who the Governor is either. Our State Emergency services from the Government to Utility Companies are well prepared regardless.

So who are we suing the city of Houston or center point? Bc this is ridiculous . Leave your comments and thoughts here.
@JustLikeHeaven7713 күн бұрын
One reason is because people don't turn off unnecessary lights or electronics. Two of my neighbors had outside lights on during the hurricane. Why? No one is outside your house in a hurricane. I can only imagine what they had going on inside the house. Turn off everything you don't need and turn up your thermostat during storms. Please help one another.

The area where the hurricane hit has about 10,000,000 in population. 1,500,000 without power is 15%, which is not bad, really.

People aren't "Enamored" with Houston but more like wondering how does America's 4th. Largest city falls apart with a weak Tropical Storm.

People across the street from me never lost power at all and mine been off since yesterday morning . I have called fema ,and 211 and there is no help from anyone from the feds ,state or local they havent even declared a disaster for houston yet . This is a 3rd world place
@JustLikeHeaven7713 күн бұрын
Do you mean 311? FEMA only helps after a disaster declaration is filed by the president, and it is not possible for you to not have power if your neighbors do. You're on the same transformer. Maybe your breaker box is out, or you're a bot?

This is completely on every news channel weather forecaster, who sat there on tv and told the viewers up to the very last minute, the storm is going to north Mexico, won’t affect us.. The storm is going to Brownsville, not to worry.. The storm is going to corpus, we might get a little rain, and at no point, did any of them acknowledge the potential that it could turn and come directly to houston, as in most cases, storms do… So all of our lineman and resources went south and staged there… until the very last minute the damn weather people finally acknowledged houston would take a direct hit. … and will any of these professionals be held accountable? Nope, the only job in the world where you can be 99.999999% wrong and still keep your job… They’ve all been completely wrong on every major storm that has hit houston since Allison… Anyone remember Harvey and what they forecasted? 15-21” of rain, until someone on social media came out a day before the storm and said, no it’s more like 51” and then that person was threatened with criminal charges and civil lawsuits. Then after the event all these reporters started calling it the 500 year event and patted themselves on the back as if they predicted some ancient prophecy… Time to find a new source of information folks.

How's that "green energy" grid working out for you? They have to build windmills and solar panels, that will take time. You vote California, you get California.
