When wood chippers ATTACK!!!

The guys at Eastside Tree Works are professionals but nobody can prevent accidents from happening 100% of the time. Unfortunately when accidents happen around heavy machines, such as wood chippers, the results can be quite destructive. See what happens when a wench line doesn't get properly stowed. Main thing is nobody got hurt. At least we all were educated again on how dangerous chippers are and to keep every line secured and out of the path of any branches.

I was on my city tree crew at 14. I learned very fast watching a demonstration before they sharpened the blades. It was mind-blowing to see how fast you can get pulled in. The Gs are so great, they believe you'll die from snapping your neck as the initial Gs pull you in. I've seen kick back happen. Lucky we wore a safety vest, like bullet proof vests. Would of went clean through the feeder guy. Good God these aren't to be taken so lightly. Poor kid that got sucked into one last week. Please, always train, and random retrain your employees!

There was a news bit about a guy getting straight up decapitated by a rope that got sucked in by the chipper

I saw how you where feeding the branches into the chipper I feel it was wrong always feed branches from the side Ish of the feed table rather than the front do this to help prevent snags and more time to pull the emergency bar

So lucky no one was attached to that. Almost Happened to me over this last season. I was in a tree and a coworker almost put a top through that my life line got tangled in. I never yelled so loud and so much in my life!

Now what do you think would have happened if that winch line wrapped around your ankle? Ropes and vines are dangerous around chippers. And with dull drum blades it's even worse.

Lucky it was a rope and not a wire rope . Be careful with the winch line at all times.

Everybody who feeds a chipper should be forced to watch Chuck and duck videos from yesteryear for a week.... Then maybe they will realize how safe and easy they have it now...
