@@MemoristCed I, too, am a parent and understand this completely. I somehow managed to get mine to reach adulthood, but it was kind of touch and go there for a few moments. (She's a good kid, really.) If yours haven't hit "the final milestones as a kid yet", it's a fun ride, but beware of ninjas with knives and onions around the final bends. It's a bittersweet experience.

@@MemoristCed I'd tell you to blame the Jackass TV series, but as a former teen boy, I can tell you that they'll probably be doing that even without any outside media influence. The good news is that there's a good chance they'll outgrow it, if they survive to adulthood. My advice is punishment should be a 500 word paper into subjects like "Safety practices of Hollywood Stuntpersons Union" and "diseases caused by head trauma" (Lots of studies on former NFL football players for that last one.) You'll need to keep an eye on them to make sure they're not letting ChatGPT do the heavy lifting on those.

Okay but the irony that rangers can quite easily have a legitimately kind of ridiculous number of languages with my half elf ranger (who didn't even take background languages iirc) my reaction was just "I grew up in a forest how did I learn 5 bloody languages and at least two that neither of the two people I'd come into contact with know either" then I multiclassed rogue and it became 6 languages or something and she also will learn more languages throughout the ranger class lol

The ranger's voice is what sweet dreams are made of. Besides, that is the most realistic depiction of a human learning elvish, as it is usually hinted that elves are considered adults at 75 years old because they have to study for years the elven culture and language.
