After spending 22 years with a narcissist (ex-wife), I have come to the conclusion that unless you are 100% in tune with yourself and you consciously look for reciprocity from the person you are with then over time you will simply be consumed by the narcissist until there is nothing left of you. Narcissistic abuse can be so subtle that you don't even see it unless, as I say, you are consciously aware of yourself at all times, you continuously ask yourself how certain situations make you feel and that you are not willing to adapt yourself or accept someone else's poor behaviour because they lack emotional intelligence - which a narcissist does. Remember that no matter how old the person is in age terms, a narcissist has the emotional intelligence of a young child

Spot on! My ex had (and still has) the emotional intelligence of a child. He was known as Peter Pan (he even called himself that!) which was OK until the childlike emotions came to the fore - if he didn’t get his own way - sulked, silent treatment and verbal and physical abuse - something that you would expect from a young child but in an adult - well, showing up in an adult, that’s a whole different ball game!😢

Thank you for what you do. I was married to a narc and was pretty messed up after the divorce. Channels like yours have helped me a great deal in understanding narcissistic people and their abusive nature. Regarding the intro ("you've done so much for them, yet they do this to you" )... that was one of the things which were the most mind boggling and infuriating for me. Even during late devaluation and the discard fights she'd openly admit that I am a great and kind person, I am and was a positive influence, etc. She would almost be complimenting and appreciating me while still throwing me away like garbage, as if all my good qualities and sacrifices were worth nothing and meant nothing.

33 years in now, 57 days of knowledge and I am trying to move on, while still being in the same house (dif. rooms) I only speak when I have too. I try not to engage. I will soon have a part time job, he does not know. He never asks me about anything. If he doesn't ask, I don't have to tell. Getting banned from Facebook and twitter was one of the best things for my health. It’s nice to not be influenced by people in that way. I figured them out and walked away from her. She then blamed me for the breakup and got her new supply in a matter of days. She boxed me up, discarded me and moved on. You have to remember these are not normal people and they have a mental health disorder. I do remember after I had time to process this break up, because (but only with help) I walked from that relationship and then after months of torture and crying into my pillow as an effort not to call him, after all of that two months later he emailed me with this random picture of a girl with the caption of she is so much better than you. I could have believed him, I could have gone straight to tears but my mind went straight to you nasty horrible little man that my Mom was right about you all along and like your really going up in the world because of the picture of the girl. The perfect ambiguity I get drives me crazy. In between mirroring, any effort he makes is ambiguous. He does not want to have feelings, real feelings put out toward me, but he was caught vulnerable about me and this is not the MO. He can't put his real self out there, and yet he managed to cryptically suggest that I am the one doing this. Kind of funny actually. So who's mirroring who? Flying on instincts about someone you never met in person is quite hard but you have to navigate instinctively. Sad because he is self sabotaging and winds up with precisely women who won't work out, if any can.

However he still appears to have an attachment/detachment disorder. I'm not stating every uniformed bollocks toting individual or inferiority complex sole person is henceforth corrupted with corrosive of conformity within communities however there is a right and wrong line that our government enforcement officers cross time after time from year after year days after days and I believe it stems from our democracy caught within the pool of Narcissist narcissistic behaviors. I end this with who is any group organization or individual any soul person to say that are adjudicators and professors to put someone's INNOCENCE on a shelf or strip away from them their integrity or digintity in our divinity of life!!!!!!!!!!! Who are we to say we are one step in front of another men women children capable of taking another's Innocence????????? This is troubling and I question this because the theatrical officers of oppression go to far and I've seen it with my own eyes even in the ADULT aspect of daily breathe particating exercises and we can leave it at that!!!!! Officers hound the righteous and drag them in courtroom theatrics don't show for the event yet feel responsible? Yet adult boutiques and nudity parlors stay open for operations. Where is the Narcissistic Sanctity Value in this. I'm not making judgemental statements however how does the law operate within the veil of narcissism if they are become astounding abusivers of their roles as public service broadcasters.
