What I love about the iron man 2 dance was that he was just goofing off out of character until he got to the podium. He wasn't expecting them to keep it, just something fun for him to do instead of walking. Favreau originally cut it from the film but added it back in because they loved it and it added something to the scene and his character.

@@CinemaStix That was exactly it. Tony doesn't do it to impress. He does it because that's who he is. Justin Hammer does it to be like Tony. That said, Justin's pathetic showboating kinda made Tony's showboating in the film's opening look childish too. Justin was a clownish reflection of Tony's clowning.
@e.d.5766
@e.d.5766 Жыл бұрын
If they had just had Justin Hammer be the main villain and given him way more screen-time, that film would have been so much better. Whiplash wasn't bad, but putting him in the same film as Sam Rockwell's Justin Hammer is unfair, you just can't compete. If they don't bring him back at some point, and not just in a short film again, they've missed a huge opportunity. Armor Wars, Thunderbolts, Ironheart, there's room for at least a little more Justin Hammer.

Quick, unusually deep information dive (and question): I believe I have just found the next quote I can put on a drawstring bag for some lucky person's upcoming birthday (I have about 15 of them plus textile colours left over from some event and it's a great low-threshold break from PhD stress). Should I cite you? Feels like it would make some interesting type of sense to put a small YT account name somewhere in a corner of that bag. Or better a more proper name? Let me know if you also enjoy this idea of appearing on someone's gym bag in some other part of the world. :) Oh, and do you happen to have a preference for the bag colour, black or cotton off-white?

When I heard they were doing Fosse/Vernon, I worried that they wouldn't be able to find an actor who could play Bob properly. I grew up with Lawn Dogs and Box of Moonlight and could never wait to see what this guy would do next. Then when Confessions of a Dangerous Mind came out I was blown away and thought it couldn't get any better, until Moon (his delivery of the line "what happened to mommy, sweetheart" in the context of that whole story made the entire film for me). It was then weird to see him on talk shows getting pigeon-holed as this guy known for his dance moves (just as you said, the way Tom Cruise is known for his run). I always thought him dancing on screen was the sign of just how absolutely relaxed he was on set and having a blast making whatever he was making. He's got such good comedic timing and sharp sense of status and can easily carry plenty of heavy dramatic weight all in the same character. I'll watch anything Sam's in, dance or no dance.

I've been a fan for years. I first really took notice of him in Green Mile but it was n Galaxy Quest I began to fall for his charm. Each time I saw him in something I was more impressed and intrigued. He's a highly skilled actor and just very likable, even as a villain. One of those actors i would love the opportunity to meet in a social venue.

One of my favorites of his movies is "Seven Psychopaths". I am now trying to remember whether he dances in that one or not. In any case, that's a BRILLIANT movie with such a wonderful, wonderful cast (Christopher Walken, the singer Tom Waits, Woody Harrelson, Colin Farrell, Harry Dean Stanton, Crispin Glover, Mickey Rourke, and more!)

I have adored Sam Rockwell since "The Green Mile". He was so evil and so funny he simply awed me. In a cast of legendary character's for "that guy" to stand out so blatantly he caught my heart forever. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Matchstick Men, too many to name but the one I admired most was "Best of Enemies"...emotional and amazing. His dancing is hot cause it's real and simply an add on to an absolutely wonderful actor. Sometimes "that guy" supersedes the lead actors and Sam has an uncanny ability to do so in every movie. Literally hot to trot!! Love ya man! Please Sam...dance with me!

For someone not actually trained in dance, he's got some amazing moves. I mean, I'm SO not a dancer that I don't even qualify as amateur. I'm like the "anti-dancer", but I think Sam Rockwell's got dancing in his soul. It's like art with his feet.

What a nice way to pay tribute to your favorite actor! Instead of getting into the details of his acting, which would've spoiled the magic (although I would've been so tempted... like how does he do it??), you chose to take time to appreciate what makes him... Sam Rockwell. That makes this video more genuine, more heartwarming.

He is on purpose not profiling to be a classical leading man, and that's for the best since then he would be made to do things that are not him. The "underratedness" can be a blessing that way, creatively.

Best of this generation??? Ok, this is a general comment: someone being one of your favorites does not make them one of the best.
@aggyboy1580
@aggyboy1580 Жыл бұрын
@@carlrice1774 talk about twisting words! 😳🤦🏼‍♂️ I said "One of the best of this generation". I didn't say "THE best"! Nor did I say he was my favourite! There are a lot of actors these days who get kudos all the time but can't actually act, they just repeat the lines they've learnt as themselves. Chris Hemsworth for example; sells seats but can only do one role type...and not particularly great eaither! Sam Rockwell is incredibly diverse and ALWAYS gives a performance which convinces you of the character he is playing, THAT is great acting! If you need convincing and haven't watched them yet, watch "Moon" and "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" for two of his stellar roles. And you mustn't forget him in "The Green Mile" either, EPIC acting! But don't take my word/opinion on it! Clearly I am mislead in my belief that he is one of the best of my generation, because he's ONLY won 41 Awards and been nominated ONLY 76 times... ...so nobody else thinks he's great either!!! 🙄🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

I’ve always appreciated his role in A Midsummer’s Night Dream as Francis Flute and Thisbe. He can be comedic and dramatic, often a combination of the two in the same film as also seen in Three Billboards and Moon. I wish he’d be in another Shakespearean adaptation because of it, maybe as the fool in King Lear.
