Nah, the author does a lot of otaku type characters. Btw, the author has a shit ton of series that all happen in the same universe. For example, Kobayashii works for the company to which the girl from Ojojojo is the heiress. The girl from Ojojojo's boyfriend designed a character called Yakis-obaa (it was an old lady who was cooking yakisoba, hence the oba pun), for a mascot contest. Komori-san from Komori-san wa Kotowarenai also entered that contest. And Destiny Fucker pops up in multiple series

One of the reason why I like that author and as said by a previous commenter they all share one universe. Metsuko ni Yoroshiku is manga set in the past when Kaoru was a highschool student but she's not the main character in that manga. Its cool once you realize how they are all connected.

I think you mean chinese characters since the bottom is kanji , based off of chinese charas. Sometimes asian words have double meanings, or there are words that have similar proounciation but have different tones and therefore different meanings. Though I guess english is similar in that regard.
