I unexpectedly lost my wife of 20 years in January '24, she was 52, so this vid speaks to me. The only difference is that we have a special needs son that will always live with me. That doesn't take away from the solitude (not loneliness) but adds to it with a responsibility that continues past my ending for the rest of his life. I never worried about life and death until I was the only one left to watch over the life of a special needs person. In the 18 months that preceded my wife's death we also lost the parent and grandparents generation. So it's very true that the house that always had people, music and laughter is very quiet now. I have no worry about myself but I worry for our son when I'm gone, there is nobody left to let him live with kindness. I can let go of all the material things but letting go of responsibility is something that I haven't figured out yet.

I was unaware until recently that many hospices take care of people in the community ,who are in need, and not just those who are at the end of life. perhaps such an organisation could help your son in the future? just a thought that you could look now for the right people and places for him to be looked after. I think there may be several charities that would be helpful to you and your son.

@@ellensee4660 Thank you, I'll look into that. Hopefully I'll have another 20-30 years to watch over him but I want a plan in place. It's a rough world out there.

God Bless you and your child, I resonate with everything you say. Yes feeling strong responsibility for another is an unfathomable journey. Faith and Trust in God the Father in Heaven is my only true refuge of soul Peace in my life, knowing that even when I cease to exist in my current form on this earth my children will always be loved and protected by God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, from the evil ones.
