This will be the year of 5 squats for me. My son has estranged himself from me. I have chosen to accept this. However, he is often on my mind. I have decided every time I think of him, I will do 5 squats. This way, I will benefit. Physically and mentally. I wish him peace and joy and all the blessings from heaven. And I will fill my life with things I love and enjoy. My gardens, My cat. My husband. Nature and 5 squats.

I have a son that's big polar. He never shows respect or gratitude for all I do for him. And I'm not the kind of parent who throws it in his face. But he's disrespectful, talks ugly to me and never really shows gratitude for everything I have done for him. He's narsaccistic and a sociopath. I wish him well. I pray that he finds peace and happiness in his life! He's 33 yrs. Old and has made some bad mistakes in his life. He likes to blame others. I know I need to sever our relationship so I may have inner peace and happiness. I love him dearly and wish him well but I will no longer let him use me for his advantage. I guess since he is now doing better financially he feels like he doesn't need me anymore, possibly. I know he has big polar but he refuses to get treatment. For my own sanity and happiness I can't continue to try and help him. Some people can only be loved from a distance. I hope he will accept accountability for his own failures. I pray he does get help for his bi polar. I always wish him well.

A lot of money heartbreak Florida has no grandparents rights took me a year and a half but he got my boy and it hasn't let me see him in 5 years and while I love my daughter. I resent the fact that she won't straighten up for her child who's with that monster. And she helped him taken from me my beautiful daughter that I spoiled and worked for that I gave elaborate parties and the best of everything and gymnastics and ski trips in Key West trips and it goes on and on and now she's just a mean hateful narcissist I should not have spoiled her. All I can do is pray that she doesn't die on the streets and that my grandbaby doesn't forget his own Nana and then he comes back last time I saw him he was dead he'll be 15 next month I just pray the Lord brings us all peace

This was helpful, and the comments are very helpful too. My adult daughters have been quick to judge their brother, aided by his ex, and can’t see that there are always two sides to a story. Since I’ve told them they shouldn’t judge, I’m in the dog house too. Having come from a dysfunctional family where mommy dearest was hellbent on making sure her kids didn’t get along, it pains me. I’ve been grieving the close family I thought I had, but I now realize that wasn’t the right way forward. This video has shown me that there is another way, a better way. Thank you algorithm 😊.

Really good video. Thank you. I hear of many children these days, especially adult girls who cut off their parents. The same thing happened to me. I brought up my daughter mostly as single parent. She was the nicest child up to the age of 13. From then on, it was a struggle. I protected her even from her own father. At 19 she wanted to be with this boy she knew from primary school, then high school. I helped them be together. After I helped them buy a house, she completely cut me off her life. She says I did not listen to her when she was a teenager. I don t know what she means. As she turned to her teenage years, I started to see a different person in her. I turned more inside myself for peace. So when she cut me off without reason, it did not hit me that hard. I pray they are good and I just focus on myself. If I could have just a bit of communication, it would be wonderful, but I have no power to change anything. I just pray God will change things for the best. Thank you. 🙏🤎

Thank you. This video popped up in my YT feed, like a blessing. Been working on improving my relationship with my daughter. She turns 25 next month; and is really starting to come around again. I think, because of the meditation and self-reflection I’ve immersed myself in. Also likely she finally has matured enough to see what her father has put me through, with parental alienation tactics, while single-parenting. Learning how to detach, and let go. That has been very hard for me. Your teachings will help me even more! I’m getting my journal to write down your steps from this video. Thank you. 🙏 🧘♀️☸️

This is a great way of allowing poor behaviour to continue. If you, as a parent, can’t gain any kind of respect from your own child, how do you think they’ll treat anyone else? With respect? I don’t think so. Don’t excuse or reinforce bad behaviour, no matter the age of your child. Parents are there to teach their children, young or old, for your benefit, their benefit and the benefit of the world.

@rosemaerkennedy5430, sometimes we have to actively teach because leading by example isn’t enough. And I always find that people are more willing to ‘follow the leader’ if you explain it all to them while you show them. But I suppose young, woke people can’t help but diss everything old-school… which is why the world is in such a mess now! Learning through osmosis isn’t a thing! I pity the children who you failed to teach because you didn’t want to “control” them. May they know better and seek a mentor elsewhere 🙏🏼

Im the daughter, of a narcissistic mother and enabler father, they say they have done everything for me, but they have said and done things they think we dont respect, my mom would say horrible things and when i told my dad he said, u know what shes like just forget it, no kid just walks away. The parents did things , they just think because they helped them growing up they are owed . Ask ur kids what u did wrong, they will try to tell u, and you will disagree and say no we did everything, u dont listen to ur kids. U think ur right . We dont walk away for nothing, u are the cause.

My new generation of kids do not care much for their elders-they do not even say 'How are you doing? to me.' What I do is write to them once a month, telling them I wish them the best and that I am OK. I do this every month regardless of whether they answer or not. Makes me feel great. I have done my part, their karma is their own. Peace In!

If your child does not want to engage with you, it’s because you did wrong by them. Go to your child and be humble. Apologize . Ask them what is wrong. Ask them what you can do to fix things in the time you have left. Don’t be proud. Let your ego go. Don’t blame the child. Blame yourself. Children only abandon parents that hurt them deeply. This is fact. Again, If your child does not want to engage with you, you did them wrong. Go fix things. Do the right thing.

The issue for me with attachment is that love and attachment go together for me. I love and am attached to my son on an emotional level. His pain is my pain. Perhaps this is not how it is supposed to be. I guess people will say I should at least learn to be less attached so that his pain is not my pain. I once read that having a child is like having your heart outside your body...it goes where they go. But I think ancient wisdom says I must not be attached to anything, because attachment leads to suffering. I'm not concerned with being shown respect or with being ignored. I want my son to fly and never be concerned about me.

As parents we give and do as much as we can through good and bad times. At some stage you have to move forward live you life what is left of it. I cut off my elderly father because I am elderly too and I got sick of his emotional abuse. He is not cognitively impaired but he screams at me, is constantly critical and has been my entire life. I can’t take it anymore. He has affected my mental health since I was a child. Why should I respect him when he shows no respect for me? I would never treat my children the way he treats me.

THANK YOU FOR THIS WISDOM. However, there is a truth of what you may or may not have done with your kids which has produced some of this estrangement and unhappiness on both sides. It can also be helpful, in a very calm and accepting way, after you have had time to truly think about what your role could have been as a parent when you kids were young, and maybe that takes a long time.....If you are ever ready to discuss with your kids, you can approach the subject lovingly, when you are truly accepting and calm, to discuss what has gone on, from your point of view, with your kids....when both sides can handle that discussion in a mostly respectful way, that could be a further opening of the truth, and also love you feel for each other....or not.... I guess as the parent you must be ready for whatever response you get, but whatever response you get from yourself and your children, it can always change and get better....or not....just saying that words, as we know, can make things worst, BUT, can help too, and confrontation does not have to be horrible, a least from you, especially when you are truly ready to be objective, accepting, and compassionate. If it does seem to be truly impossible to talk compassionately from yourself or your kids, then you're not ready, and maybe never ready. Hard truth. But, things could go well and you inch a little closer to love and acceptance. Maybe you adopt a process where people in your family, could be given a right to address their sadness and lack of understanding with their family, and feel their parent accept them no matter what, very powerful. And, As this video tells us, and in any case, we can always go within and find peace, no matter what happens.

There is a book by Anne Perry about acceptance of her life long friend who blackmailed a village. We can never really know what and how our actions and words truly impacted others.

@@marybusch6182 Thank you...I'm trying to understand your response to my comment, and probably have to read the book at some point, reading a couple of books right now...Ideally, , there has to be communication and a compassionate acceptance of what people are capable of....For myself, I will eventually have to communicate about what is happening....I believe this can all be done with a lot of love and acceptance. So, one might have to have a lot of time to figure out how to do that...maybe months or years, but meanwhile you can try to accept and extend a loving self....
