It’s such a sad story. Neil was blessed to have lived a life that most of us can only dream of but in the end he gave it all up to be with his young daughter Olivia. Neil has said he missed so many milestones in his first daughters life (Selena) trying to make RUSH successful and give his family a good life but he was always away from home. When Selena and Jackie passed he was left with this unbelievable guilt and he wanted to end it all but his current wife Carrie Nuttall pulled Neil back from the brink of despair. Once they married and had Olivia Neil wasn’t about to miss out on time spent with her so he walked away from RUSH. It’s sad because after Neil gave the world himself for 40+ years he was only left with about a years worth of cancer free time to spend with his daughter. Most of us never knew Neil but boy what a respected musician he was......almost divine . He will be sorely missed.

Faron Taylor With respect those are not my thoughts....those were Neil’s. Without trying to come across as sarcastic I’d trust reading his written words than words from someone who claims to be a close acquaintance, relative or family friend. I’m not saying you are not one of those people but it’s just hard to trust your words as genuine when they are contradictory to what I’ve read from the man himself. People claimed to be related to famous people all the time so this is nothing new but the timing is kinda cruel.

I know. The genius behind the band was humility, camaraderie and three guys each with a great sense of humor. They were friends, always. They enjoyed each others' company and knew when to give each other space. All of them worked hard at being the best professional musicians they could be (and all succeeded wildly) while avoiding the pitfalls of being rock stars. They took their music and their fans seriously but not themselves. They stuck together through all the years of bad press and snubbing by the music industry, eventually, belatedly, getting into the R&R Hall of Fame. Calling Neil "The New Guy" always made me smile, too. I had never in my life shed tears over the passing of someone I had never met. His passing caused me to. Neil was a giant in every way, an example to be emulated, someone that never stopped trying to improve, to grow, to evolve. He will be sorely missed. Love your post.

These three have always been unique in the music industry. Not only were/are they 3 of the most talented individuals to grace the stage, they were also best friends. Not many other bands would have put their craft on hold while a member took time to get himself together after that great loss, speaks volumes about their relationship with each other. So many other groups would have told him to kick rocks, replaced him and moved on. Not these 3. They were family.

I’m such a lucky man in that I’ve experienced rush live twice. And Neil Peart has always been a guardian spirit over me. His lyrics have always given me solace.

This video segment left tears in my eyes! 3 great gentlemen whom were as tight as any family ..... I've watched all the live concert footage + Rick Beato's awesome instructional RUSH jammin (with a lot more "homework" and documentaries I have do see yet). It's like I can't let him go ..... Neil you will always be the drum beat in my heart - thank you! I love you man!!!!!

Oh oh Mexico! Mexico will miss you too Niel. I lived on Vancouver Island for 5 years and had a friend who did the same thing, riding his bike from BC to Central America and back. Sad to hear about your passing, but now if it's possible, you can be with those you love as well. God speed my friend and when I need a little Rush, I can always find you in "The Spirit of Radio ". Long live Rock n Roll! RIP Niel Piert.

I miss this man...as a musician myself, what he did to inspire me to get better was astronomical. I cant even put it into words. The only bright side for me is that the music will live on forever, and every time I get behind a kit his influence can be heard.

Love u Neil. You will always be the best man to ever sit behind a drum kit, period!

As someone who lost their mother in one of the most crucial point in their life, I could never imagine what that emptiness would feel like if you lost both your daughter and wife in just a couple of years. Neil peart was not only one of the greatest musicians, but one of the greatest men to grace this earth. I hope he’s rocking on in whatever heaven that may exist, R.I.P the professor, we all miss you man

Neil is and forever will be one of the most influential drummers on earth. He was doing things that no one else could imagine doing in the 80s. I hear those influences in metal these days. He is a legend that is/will be deeply missed for years to come.

They Broke the mold when he was created !!!! To think He may have only become a farm equipment sales person for his father‘s company. It’s so fitting That personally he went for the stars and did what he truly was inspired to do.
