I think you like him because the story was told from the Vin's perspective and she saw him as a mentor, father figure and hero. The rest of his crew saw him as a friend who wasn't as sane as before. Skaats saw him as a religious figure and someone saint( I have to mention that they couldn't be objective since everyone was cruel that time). Everyone else saw him as an murderer, puppet in someone's else's hand or a psycho. Even tho I liked him(And I still do) I have to admit that his new direction feels natural.

yea, but everyone else was an asshole in the world Kelsier knew. It was a world where “the evil lord won.” I cannot make sense that Kelsier would be a psycho in the multiverse where most people aren’t evil assholes. I can at worst see him as a Skybreaker, because of his sense of absolutist justice.

@@Memodeth According to Brandon he's only the good guy cause the bad guys happen to be the guys we hate, but that doesn't make him evil. A "twisted" man's actions are good in the context of this evil world, and what drives his selfless actions are his selfish needs

I definitely would put Kelsier in the morally grey section of things. He’s done a lot of good and a lot of bad and it’s sometimes hard to tell to what extent he is motivated by his selfishness. I’m definitely interested to see what Brandon does and I hope he doesn’t mess up our boy

​@@MemodethIMO Brandon was flat out wrong to call Kelsier a flat out psychopath. But he is right that a lot of his traits that made him effective in era 1 do suit a villains. Secret history shows all of Kelsier best traits. But also shows his more odd behaviour, In stormlight archive his cunning, hatred bias against nobles( yes he spared Eland but he was an exception), restrained ruthlessness, and charisma make him a villain in that series at least to some Pov characters
