I have in the past used a 'hot water bath' to help with bent or twisted pieces. You 'may' be able to use this method on the warped floor/roof panels then clamp them against something on the wright profile. While I agree with the poor QC comments, as model makers/builders overcoming these issues is what we do. Finding a solution and overcoming challenges is what makes the hobbie that bit more enjoyable. Enjoy your holiday Emil and family. Stay safe. 😎

No, your expectation is insane and speaks of a big lack of understanding. First off, I despise GW for a mile long list of reasons - it is credit due to a fantastic setting that has many people playing despite their best efforts to ruin the hobby. With that out of the way, so you don’t think I’m running interference on behalf of a trash company worse than EA, I’ll explain why you should tone down your expectations: They don’t sell enough to warrant investing in expensive molds for specialist items. These things are made nearly on a per order basis. The warping can be fixes with something as simple as warm water. Mold slips however are where thing really go wrong and can be impossible to fix. It’s not just the molds however, it’s that they pour the resin because they don’t have injection machines, which is why there are also occasional bubbles. It’s why everything has huge gates. Getting to have these things is a huge luxury and while we can agree that when you pay exorbitant prices you should get a flawless product, especially since you have to assemble it yourself, the fact that we get to have these things at all is more out of a rare love for the franchise than base greed. There are reasons for why things are as they are. Process, demand and hurdles all play a role.

The warping, bubbling and QC issues that this model has is absolutely disgraceful you are paying $1700 dollars for a bunch of plastic parts the least they could do is ensure that they are absolutely pristine, the casting quality and detail on the individual tau guys also looks really bad Forge World should be utterly ashamed of putting out such a substandard product. Also the fact that they knew this was for you and would be featured on your channel means that they obviously just dont care enough to QC the products that are going to be given huge internet exposure means that regular buyers dont have a chance of receiving decent quality products I would be demanding a refund or at the very least they should replace all of the poorly cast and warped pieces. I was considering buying a larger model from forge world this video has definately convinced me not to bother. hope they sort these issues out for you good luck with the build, cant wait to see it come together and what you create out of it. For resin models, I use a combo of heat gun and hot (near boiling) water. Dropping resin pieces into hot water will coax them back into their original shape. Heat gun lets you work on pieces as you dry fit them into place. You’ll definitely want a saw for taking off the gates, it will be way less work and give you a cleaner surface than using clippers for those big gates. Definitely a good idea to cut the gates a little ways away from the model, and trim that down with a hobby knife, to avoid scoring or cutting into surfaces that need to be cut flush.

The quality is pretty shocking for a professional product. I'm glad I got into miniatures through 3D printing, at least when I have warped parts it's my own fault and I can just print another.

@@thedyingmeme6 I guess it was just the mailing process being rough because the box was all dented and stuff and I guess it just busted like the top hadn’t came off

If id spent $1700 on a model and had pieces turn up that warped id be really pissed. For that price they should have somebody quality check it. My 3D printer doesnt warp pieces like that. They real need to sort out forgeworld

These are made with molds... Totally different process. This kind of resin heats up, molds are bendable so that you can get the parts out so they can easily warp. No there is no excuse for such expensive kit to be that much warped, but it can be fixed with warm water. 3D printer works on surface (2D plane prints one at a time), casting works by volume (3D) and that amount of resin all at once heating, expanding and contracting can lead to this.

@@xManzi yeh I know its molds but you've gotta question in this current age if its time they changed some processes in production of kits like this

@@xManzi what is especially inexcusable is that it's made after order, which means someone was actively involved with the production of this thing and they felt it was acceptable to give to people.

As someone who's built a lot of resin models, all that warping is pretty easy to fix with a heat gun and a little bit of patience. FWs resin heats and bends very nicely. It only gets really bad when pieces that are like 3cm+ thick are warped, which doesn't seem to be the case here. The thing you actually want to prepare yourself for is the fact that at least a few of these huge structural parts are not going to line up perfectly, and assembling them all to get the best fit possible between every part is going to be a huge task (which I guess you probably already know by now). Good luck!

I got a ForgeWorld Aeronautica Imperialis Ork Mega Bommer and it CLEARLY says to inspect the pieces and reach out to FW if there are any issues such as warping etc. For that price, you should not expect any less. Contact their customer service, ask for the relevant replacement parts and you shall receive. If not, then call your credit card company. You don’t mess around with that much money.

I'm not so sure if they're "pretty good" at replacing them. I've heard horror stories of people needing to replace the replacements for the same reason.

Warped resin can usually be fixed with heat. Either a hot water bath or a heat gun (or blow dryer in a pinch) will loosen the resin so it can be formed back into shape. Old garage kit trick.
