The issue I have with stabilizers in this game is not the act of stabilizing itself, but the fact that it gives an insane turret turn rate boost in comparison to non-stabilized guns. As long as the reticle is close to your mouse, you will just snap onto your targets regardless of your historical turret turn rate.

That's Gaijin's crappy implementation of the stabilizers. Just look at how insanely easily the T-55 stays on target when it's turning on the spot.

That, plus the fact pretty much all stabilizers overperform since they are only "on/off", as opposed to working progressively worse at higher speeds and on more uneven terrain. Like the Sherman stab which shouldn't "switch-off" at 24 km/h, but rather over 24 km/h it shouldn't stabilize enough for it to matter.

Now i'm certain Gaijin do have a different matchmaking for France players, you are always on the worst team and you are always supposed to carry them being top player and still losing, you are always put with the worst players that are searching a match witch Gaijin just made France an enjoyable playable nation only if you are among the best amongst the best players and so they made France as an elite only branch of the game witch only pro players can have a go at it and have fun.

Continuing the French suffering, the French 7.3 lineup has been completely bumped to 7.7, with no stabilizers, LRFs, or apds, or apfsds. No matter the BR, gaijin hates France.

French players have been begging for a stabilized tank to compete for a while now and gaijin said they would add that amx10. French players were exited and glad that they were finally getting the stabilized version of the amx10rc. Then we saw it was a case mate tow missile version. Life of a French player is pain and agony that gaijin feeds off of.

I knew it was more like a shot coordination mechanism. The gun wasn't stabilized, but it would automatically fire when it went over the target, basically timing the shot. Only the gunner sight was stabilized so you could actually see what you want to shoot at.

No that's just a myth, it never was stabilised in any way, and it's the same thing for "when the gun went in the same direction it fired". What it had is COTAC, allowing for the commander to preset the firing distance, allowing the tank to quickly thake the shot.

I'm maining France right now and just unlocked the leclerc. What the Brenus and other French 8.7 tanks taught me is how to time that suspension bounce as fast as I can. obviously not as good as a stab, but once you learn how the tank behaves, with the suspension, its almost predictable enough to get good with. it certainly helps when playing other non-stabbed vehicles. I love a mobile vehicle in war thunder, and the french line is apparently my bread and butter. The AMX series of tanks are also weirdly tough - I've survived many rounds with the BRENUS with only two crew left, after having grabbed one from a cap.

Funnily enough, that's more or less what the French also did but with an automated system. So rather than keeping the gun steady they programmed it to fire when the suspension bounce exactly aligned with the gunner's aim.

French 8.7 arent easy to use, but after a few years of experience, i would take them against any russian mbt at the same BR. the mobility, LRF and thermal combo makes them so much better with my playstyle, and a whole lot more sastifiying to use. The only thing is to not get seen first. and city maps are hard. i mostly treat them as light tanks, except that its not because of the lack of armor (partially it is), but mostly because of the lack of stab

That’s the difficulty with balancing a game like this. A tank can be simultaneously under powered, OP, or perfectly balanced depending on play style and experience. It’s far from an easy thing to get right.

My experience with FR is EXACTLY the same as yours, which honestly feels good as you are a good player. - No stabilizer anywhere, while FR had plenty of stabilized versions IRL, so Gayjing is just being obnoxious as always. - Having to play defensively all the time because of the lack of stabilizer, while you get 360 no-scoped by rubias tanks. - Mars15 having ammo spread everywhere for no reason instead of packed in the turret first THEN in the lower part. - SK having really good HEAT shells for some obscure reasons (which came as a good surprise). - Most fun I had was with the DCA, which is somehow stronger than most tanks. - ACRA is pretty good AFAIR.

For the record, the AMX 30 was a revolutionary tank at the time, perhaps even the best in the world. The French were the first or among the first to focus on mobility instead of armor, which was then done by all the countries in the world

It wasn't that revolutionary + the Leo1 did most of what the AMX 30 could do a year sooner. This is why the Leo1 got exported to a lot of countries while the AMX 30 only to a few. The AMX 30 is basicly a weird cousin of the Leo 1, as it was born from the failed Euro Panzer project which gave birth to both Leo1 and AMX 30. The only difference is the Leo1 became a really successful tank, unlike the AMX 30.

The Leo1's design started in 1956, and entered service with the Heer in 1965, while the AMX-30's design was started in 1959, and entered service in 1966 with the Baguette Army. The AMX-30 brough nothing new to the table. Nothing. I donno why you french ppl love that rolling junkyard so much when it's just a badly designed stolen Leo 1, because originally, the Leo 1 was name Euro-Panzer and was designed in joint venture by Italy, Germany, and you french guys. Italy left cause they had no money to found the project, and you guys left because "you wanted an only french design", so you basicly STOLE as much stuff from the join venture as possible, while all that german did is scrap the prototype's turret and make a better one. No srsly. The AMX-30 was basicly a much more expensive Leo1 with a 20mm coax for some reason, and this is why the Leo 1 was exported to much more countries then the AMX-30. And on the top of that, it never got a proper electro-hydraulic stabilisator ever. Like what the fuck. Beside the FT-17, the only semi competent french tank you guys made was the Leclerc tank. Don't cope with your patriotic feeling that you guys won wwi and wwii it was the US both times, and your tank design was always mediocre at best. You should just buy Leo2s like the brits did and give up on designing tank when you can't!

make sure to make use of the hydro-pneumatic suspension on the amx-10rc, it lets you have quite insane gun depression while keeping a very low profile. And when you're not using it for gun depression, lower your height to make your frame smaller, harder target to see and hit. btw Like one single bush is all it takes to cover up the front of the amx-10rc, very dirty if you play it like how the french designed it to be used.

The amx30s didn't need stabilisation due to the computer in the tank where you held down the trigger and when the gun lined up with the aimer it fired basically removing the need for one, however it seems hard to implement into warthunder. Just thought I'd share that information with you

Not, at release time. French was always a rough grind nation, with very costly repair costs on the few gems (namely the Lorraine 40t). Playing with premium AMX30 + Premium account was already barely enough for a medium player to gain money. Then you hit the 10+ ranks with a first variant of Leclerc with prohibitive repair cost and no APFSDS (HEATFS), and reconsider your priority in life, stop grinding and start enjoying the game at lower/balanced level. Retrospectively, i don’t know why I imposed that to myself. Too much pain and frustration.

​@@Guibod12 it always depends on how u play, french tanks have good mobility and the HEAT round slaps now since it does not get triggered by small obsticles, however they do suffer even with premiums, but thats how it is, some bigbrains decades ago made some poor decisions regarding their tanks (japan, france, GB and italy especially) and thats represented in the game now. However at 11.0 and above all nations perform good if you adjust the playstyle. I remember grinding the brits a few years ago before solid AP was fixed/buffed and you needed 3-4 side shots to kill a tank...dark times.

Me too and for good reason too. My most played tanks in the game are the AMX-30s just because of their versatility. Nothing comes close to being a tank destoyer, an MBT and an SPAA at once.

I am not sure it has better thermals than the AMXs tho, or if it even has thermals actually. Even early French thermals are often gen 2 and the brenus is gen 2+ if I am correct, while German tanks usually have lacking thermals

Yeah the AMX-30 (1972) does okay. It only has Heat, no rangefinder, no stabilizer, and is at 8.0. The lack of stabilizer sucks but you can deal with it, but at 8.3 it starts becoming really painful

Snail straight up looked at the T106 with it's trampoline suspension and said "Yes, this is .3 BR stronger than the VIDAM!"

When you get used to play without a stabilisator you can actually get some good games with those things. But you kinda have to play diffrently then most other tanks at this br. Be very patient, always choosing ambush over rushing in city maps even if rushing is tempting with those tanks mobility, flanking can be good but don't go too fast. You have to be at places where you won't be expected and use your mobility to reposition fast and prepare an other ambush. In larger maps it's better to stay at long range, to be a sneaky sniper. Playing like that I had a really good time playing those tank and even if I still havn't tried stabilised tanks, I think those are really fun to use with their diffrent playstyle. Edit : And that 20mm coaxial is an helicopter nightmare, I killed most heli with the AMX-30B2 Brenus than with my DCA. And i'm prefer to stay at 8.7 with my apfsds then loosign them to go to 8.3. idk i prefer it that way even if the lack of stabilisator can be quite chalenging in a lot of situations

You should try Italy at 8.0 to experience the real suffering experience. Almost all of their decentish armored cars got absolutely dunked on and now fight 9.0 tanks constantly. Their two 8.0 premiums are the garbage M60A1 and the event AUBL which is as slow as a glacier if off road.

This video embodies my daily war thunder experiences. Not being able to see who and what is shooting you, dying instantly after getting a kill, shooting the lower plate on a T-series MBT and just the driver and engine being knocked out while ammo carousel remains intact. The best part is when I try to vent or complain I get told it's just a skill issue...and it probably is...sadly

Tried to take out a T34's track last night with my M10's 76mm ap round...it bounced right off the MUD FLAP...really getting tired of the whole T34/KV1 shooting match at around 4.0'ish... It's almost as frustrating as the T-72/80/90 "suddenly no ammo in the carousel" syndrome...really frustrating. Not to mention the 279's all round beast mode. The Snail REALLY needs to do something to keep them from running amuck and deleting whatever team they're facing...it's just too OP for where it's at in the BR system.

Surprisingly, the French 8.7 is a very good br, one of the best, and not having a stabiliser just means you have to play differently. You get the impression that the French are playing badly on purpose in this video.
