War thunder is always fun if you have realistic expectations I doubt DP uploads many of the games where he dies instantly, that would be boring to watch. Any combat game that is anything close to realistic is not gonna really be that fun in a traditional sense of the word.

Remember when people laid out a very clear strategy of raising the top BR from 11.0 to 12.0 and raising postwar vehicles up .3, cold war things up .7, and modern stuff up 1.0? So it all gets spaced out more? And they said no because it would screw the matchmaking? And now they're slowly doing that exact same thing and when everything gets mashed up to the top tier they'll figure out they have to raise the BR to 12.0 to fully decompress? And they'll think they came up with it because they figured out exactly what they'd been told they needed to do, but they stubbornly did it piece by piece until they ended up with the same result?

The M60 lower glacis being harder to pen is actually an intended design component. Going over a hill or sand dune, having a thicker lower glacis will keep you safe as thats the first thing people see as you rise over the hill/dune.

I think a lot of people play 9.0-9.7 now, so the 8.0-8.7 range sees a LOT of uptiers cos of this, at least it feels that way, also a lot less tanks sits at 7.0 and 7.3 now compared to before, so that split prob makes it harder in that bracket of tanks.

honestly the ratio is designed to frustrate you, encourage you to spend/purchase GE. I play 5.3 I face 6.3 90% of the time. I play 5.7 I see 6.3-6.7 90% of the time. I play 6.3 I face 7.3 90% of the time. You get the idea. It's incredibly frustrating to have a game like this with so much potential for fun ruined by predatory matchmaking game mechanics that encourage spending.

Before I stopped playing WT, I was grinding the U.S. tree and MAN is the M-series of tanks difficult to play. It's not that they're terrible, but there's just so much lacking for them that other nations have when you're fighting them that it makes the experience miserable. M60 should've definitely stayed at 7.7 though

The thing about the M60's 2 plane stab, was it was an upgrade IRL. Gaijin in their infinite wisdom decided to make it a separate tank, and call it an M60 (AOS), which is the official designation of quite literally, an M60 with an add on stabilizer. Gaijin should have just made it a module you can unlock to reduce the grind. Also, lately, I have been getting nothing but up tiers. I can play all day long and only get 5 down tiers. I'm not sure what the hell is going on with the game, but its almost unplayable for me. I am an above average player, and typically get over 5 kills per game at tier or a slight uptier, but full up tiers 10 times in a row takes a massive toll when you often die immediately to a guy with a Stabilizer, APFSDS, and laser rangefinder when you have none of those. It doesn't help that the Japanese have a 2016 tank at 9.0, Type 16, that gets all that and thermals. Then there are helicopters. I choose not to play top tier because of the attack drones and high tier helis, but even the lower tier helis can be total BS. What am I supposed to do against a heli 2.5-4km away sniping me with ATGMs? Unless we got a competent SPAA up, there is nothing I can do, and they are incredibly cheap to spawn in and get 2-4 free kills. Top tier is so much worse because Helis can snipe from much further, have AAMs, thermals, counter measures, and over powered point and click missiles. Then you have attack drones that are nigh on impossible to see and shoot down, and can get 1-2 free kills. What's worse, I'm plagued with ghost shells, invisible enemies, server issues, glitches, and bugs. At this point, I still play the game so I can make the money I put into it worth it.

This is the duality of the WW2/cold war BR split. WW2 tanks doesn't need to face HEAT or ATGMs, but any cold war tank without stabiliser WILL struggle. I just got the finnish T-54 when the split happened, and it was one of the most difficult times i had playing war thunder. Grinding from stock shell, APHE, means that i can't pen russian tanks frontally anywhere, and sweden rarely gets paired with russia.

Funny you should say that, because I have russian tanks in all my battles. From T34 to SU tank killers and I am working on BR 2. Something and 3 with swedish tanks, so much pain when they come head on.

Also stuck at 8.0 and I can attest to this. Leo 1s vs tanks with Stabilizers, Composite Armor, and APFSDS (And sometimes even LSF and Thermals) is not fun. Just BDSM play at that point or how far you can push yourself before committing not alive to your keyboard and mouse.

I just unlocked the BP level 60 mission to kill 10 vehicles at each tier. Tier I through IV were pretty standard, but V, VI and VII were almost impossible, because the only tree I had every vehicle unlocked was Germany and tier V, VI and VII were almost all stock. Going against teams and them having the best ammo and thermals was pretty frustrating. But at least some of my top vehicles are now spaded.

The whoe august br change thing is to sacrifice 7.0-8.0 tanks to "decompress" some br brackets. The result is disastrous in all ways. You think 6.7 heavy tanks having better life? Wrong! Yes, fewer early atgms (early atgms became trash well before the br change). But those M41s, M46s, M47s......things with apds and heatfs are still there: heck 300-400mm pen at 6.0 already. Then, All those 7.3-7ish poor T54s, Leo 1s, M60 (pre-aos ones), quirky things like obj120..... 8.0 you go y'all!!! It was a relatively calm and balanced br bracket, (almost) everyone with no stabilizer or laser rangefinder shooting each other, uptier was rare and mild. Now? 5 games in a row full 9.0 uptier is common practice. HOW DA FAQUE those old tanks fighting against things like turm IIIs, tams, t55/62s, obj.279 EVEN FKING TYPE 16s WITH APFSDS AND THERMALS?! Also, why things like conqueror stays at 7.7 while glass cannons such as leo and obj 120 going straight from 7.3 to 8.0? Just as what I expected, REAL br decompression will never happen. Steam negative spam seems to be too short-lived, Gayjin already forgets the pain (of losing money) and huminiation.

They basically just moved the pain from 6.7 to 8.0. Thats all that happened. Heavy tanks cam breathe now but at the behest of early Cold War tanks getting globbered.

They put all the armour in the lower glacis, so whenever I try to shoot the lower glacis with my Uptiered IS-4M, thinking it was an M48 or something IDK they both look kind of the same from far away to me other than the turret I can't see it usually I shoot them at up tiers from 700M+, it doesn't penetrate and makes me sad...
