That's partly why I don't think he would have friends if he didn't have influence. Most of us that are not famous, that are struggling to make ends meet barely have time to mingle and meet new friends. And most people don't like honesty and people whom are more serious, more dedicated to certain aspects of life. Be it psychology, parenting, religion....so they will use you and then stay away. That's been the experience of many today. Sadly I know more of the kind he speaks of that have more "friends" though I wouldn't change places with them ....they are stuck for sure. They don't have families. They don't have faith. They are into the same things they were decades ago. My family, my faith, my intellectual interests trying to grow and learn...is pretty much all I have but that's a lot to me. ❤
@ari3lz3pp6 ай бұрын
@@henrikaugustsson4041True. But the only thing I have wrong with what he's saying is in certain circumstances it's the opposite for friendships....the people he's describing I do think feel alone even when surrounded....but they tend to be in groups or even pairings of BFFs....my husband and I know friends that started to conglomerate as they grew older, turning away from people like us (kids and busier lives), even if we made time for them it wasn't good enough... because they feel they should be the priority all the time. Sadly it's so prevalent now that there's a division between the forever friends that are attached at the hip but stuck acting like teenagers, then there are the married couples that have very very little social lives but fulfillment in what they have.... It just does suck to think of if my husband was lost to me or vice versa and to be then alone... All of our friends that stuck by us (figuratively speaking) moved because our blue state sucks. Maybe that's why we don't have more friends...but from what we hear from all of them is they also don't have many friends....too busy making ends meet.

@All4Randomness18 ай бұрын
And at the end, his immaturity literally destroys the world. A world run by neoliberal aliens, sure, but at least it had plumbing. But in the very last scene we see that his plan worked - he is able to travel the wastes with his gang from back in the day probably until the day he dies. The film is a fantasy about what happens when your refusal to grow up clashes with the world…but this time, your refusal to grow up WINS. Was it worth it? And, furthermore, was he right - are human beings really so fundamentally backwards and recalcitrant that they would rather live in shit than join the galaxy? After all, the film resonated with many different types of people among those who watched it. It’s honestly a rather unflinching portrayal of that theme, and one of the furthest-reaching explorations of it.

The sword of Damocles says this too! When the lowly servant asked the king why he was always so stressed when surely he must be the most secure with all his power. Why does the king act so selfishly taxing the people and waging war instead of building for the public good and making peace. The king laughed and gladly switched positions with the servant for a day. The servant came to find that instead of having unlimited freedom to do anything as king he was reduced to few options in every decision always wary of those who lurk in shadows and whom he may offend by making the wrong choice. CGP Grey made an excellent video about rules for rulers and why they act so tyrannically. It is very cynical but deep down true. From a lowly perspective we are literally the servant and so interpret much of dictators' actions as unnecessarily brutal, but in their shoes if they show any weakness or fail to maintain power by putting money are resources to good means they will be removed by those who are willing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qITXfWqknrdqndU

But then he become possessed by this conservative/reactionary ideology thing, in a war against these "degenerate leftists". The problem is not being a conservative. Although I don't consider myself a conservative, I see reasonable reasons for being one. The point is that he has taken on this very judgmental attitude towards people who don't seem to fit in. He seems to value appearances, social conventions and conformity to the herd more than what goes on inside people's heads and hearts, and their stories. I read 120 days of soddom when i was pretty young and it seemed like a warning ..everyone is impotent. I think people dont understand marquis de sade the same way i understood it. He certainly didnt make a case for the attractiveness of debauchery. Quite the opposite. It was around the time i was also reading about tantra and other things which are the exact opposite. In one instance ..that of de sade... the pleasure centers are weak and so a lot of pressure must be put on them to get the fountain to flow a tiny squit of pleasure out of the person. In tantra the sea is wide and deep and long and the pleasure is not about constricting the pipe hard enough to get a weak stream to squire but a deep and oceanic bliss within oneself ... so when i read those books and thought about life the universe and everything i decided which path would be the most pleasant and which ends better. So by the time i met another yogic person to go out with we literally touched arms and had orgasam 😂 that was the best choice i think.
