Inside a one-room apartment on the outskirts of Seoul, Oliver lives a happily quiet life, listening to jazz records and caring for his favorite plant. But what else is there to do when you’re a Helperbot 3, a robot that has long been retired and considered obsolete? When his fellow Helperbot neighbor Claire asks to borrow his charger, what starts as an awkward encounter leads to a unique friendship, a surprising adventure, and maybe even…love?

This musical was one of the most unique and innovative musicals I've ever seen! My wife and I cried like babies by the end. I knew Darren Criss was good but boy I didn't realize he could vanish into the role the way he did for Oliver. And Helen Shen's Claire could've easily been abrasive but she gave her this survivalist, no-nonsense edge that was vulnerable and loveable at the same time. I loved getting to see them both. It was a truly special experience.

It might genuinely be my favorite show, even out of a long, long list of better known shows that I’ve been fortunate to get to see. I really hope it can catch on the way Heathers, Beetlejuice, Hadestown etc have. It’s so so so good and so deserving of a bigger audience. Plus, absolutely insane scenic design that is often understated but super impressive and adds so much to the show.

I am a native New Yorker I just left the theater. By far this is one of the best productions on Broadway and the talent on stage was mind blowing. It made me cry for these robots who emulate humans. Helens and Darren’s voice was magical and def a powerhouse of a performance. If you want to see an amazing show that is worth several Tony’s this is the one. I give it ten fireflies out of ten. I’m def going to go back to see it again.

I’m actually on a plane flying home after seeing “Maybe Happy Ending” on Broadway. I It was perfection. My daughter and I always fly into New York to see Darren whenever he performs on Broadway. I promise it’s money well-spent. I SO recommend this musical. It’s funny and sweet and everyone else who performs in it is so flipping talented. The actor who plays James Choi is perfect, even if he’s by himself reading a book on stage - if you know, you know! I would have liked to see it a second time. 💖💖💖

Saw this on Saturday and it is unquestionably the most delicate, heart-swelling musical on Broadway right now. I cannot express the feeling this musical left me with. How did they strike such a tender balance between humor, science fiction, romance, and an unforgettable narrative? The magic of careful and honest art making is on display in this piece. I've been listening to the Korean version on repeat now I've been listening to this one on repeat as well! It's amazing that there's a Broadway adaptation now and they kept the cast Asian American. I hope they invite Jeon Mido and Jung Moonsung to their premiere. ❤️🙏

I still haven't gotten to actually see the entire show, but I have listened to the entire score, and honestly, it feels to me as though the "AI Robot" deal could be effortlessly interchanged with just about anything. This feels like the only motivation for even slapping on the Robot skin is because AI and Robotics are the hot ticket buzz words right now, and they are skinning that over an otherwise generic by the numbers love story. Like if they weren't telling you all the time that they were robots, would you even know that? Swap out "Battery dying with a broken charger" for just about any incurable illness, set it anywhere else, same exact story. I hope when I see it finally that I am wrong. I really really do. Just those hopes are not very high. Right now, feels like High School Drama Club level.

I think you're partly right that the robot could be an analogy, which is part of why it's so impactful, but after seeing the show and the other characters I think it's actually pretty central to it.
