His wild drum skills garnered a lot of attention and fame and helped save the town economically. I remember hearing them use the "hen" ending in words instead of "sen" for example "arimahen" instead of "arimasen". Might just be misremembering though. If you're someone who's played the drums there's a few signs before the drop that the drummer is way more skilled than the song normally would ask for. The consistent use of multi-hits and some of the off-beat snare hits show more flair than the song would normally require, so when it drops it's less of a surprise and more like "yeah, let's let loose!"
