I watch a youtube channel where the family farm has been passed down several generations. The ypung family that has it now has 4 boys that have grown up learning all the skills and are now teens. The dad expects at least one of them to take over one day and it's talked about often. I can't imagine the pressure they feel and they aren't allowed to really pursue anything outside of farm life. It's sad on one hand, but on the other hand there's something beautiul about the life they live, how close they are to eachother and how special it is to have roots that run so deep. The gratification of building that life and reeping the rewards the generations before them sowed. I think its a delicate choice to accept or resist how our lives are layed out for us sometimes. And we seem to always have new appreciation for what was in hindsight as we mature and grow in wisdom. It's just part of life's journey I guess.
