It's an effective jump scare. In the og, most of the tension was the camera angles not allowing us to see what was on the other side. I think what we see here is bloober interpreting that same concept.

Actually the radio does detect them. You can hear very faint periodic beeps on the radio when a mannequin is nearby

I feel so creeped out and dreadful, especially those 4 legged freaks due to them being the stealthiest ones, when walking anywhere. The fact that your typical jumpscares arent used and the music, combined with the visuals, is perfect. Loving it so far

That part when you pick up the flash light I knew what was standing there already but my damn light went out and I have no idea how to turn it on. got my ass busted up in the dark and had to go into controls to remember there is an R3 button lol. that was so scary though I couldn't see a damn thing. Mannequins are so scary because they don't move until you are right on top of them so your radio wont detect them lol so good.

Fear of needles. As in, physical revulsion to the sight of them, whether because of association or any manner of imagery it could invoke. Frankly it can be as simple as seeing them like most people see spiders, a phobia of that degree can easily be from birth or learned. At any rate, there's no "reasoning away" someone's personal experience with a phobia; the entire point is its 'irrational'. Doesn't make it any less valid, but my point here is someone with a phobia can't help that reaction.

I love Marz, she always has the funniest most genuine reactions to everything. Anyway, I had one very good scare, in general I am very numb to jump scares because I watch lot of horror movies, but this one actually got me. It was in prison level, I walked in toilet, picked up some item. No enemies, no nothing, but when I was about to leave the room, there was this chilling female scream out of nowhere. It almost gave me heart attack. It wasn't enemy attack audio, it was legit women screaming bloody murder. The spookiest part is that there was no explanation what and why, game never follow up with anything (cut scene or enemy, etc) it just kinda happen.

I was really looking forward to Silent Hill being remade or a new one coming out. Finally this happens and all my hype slowly went away the more I saw of it. I gotta be honest.. besides a handful of jumps cares from creatures coming out of random places. This game wasn't scary.. like it was below average horro imo. Just really dark, barley any ambience, music? The majority of enemies so far [in this video] were all the same. After the first time seeing them, they're just weird things that try bopping you or the only challenge is having to stomp on them multiple times for them to stay dead. Also, having Maria around is immersion breaking. You're fighting for your life while she just stands there watching lol. So far Resident Evil: Village, even the DLC alone did the horror element so well. Now the moments in those games, I felt genuine discomfort, anxiety, terror. I guess I'll have to keep watching.

This game is sacry but don't call jumpscares scary, you're gonna get jumped and flinch and be scared by jumpscares regardless if it's a good one or not, you can't call it scary when your mom or your cat just walks by the corner of your eye peripherals or even directly making you jump via surprise doesn't mean they're scary. If there's one thing I don't like about this game, other than radio not working when monsters are still, are those cheap jumpscares, SH games aren't supposed or meant to be spooky like bloober teams other efforts, they're meant to be terrifyingly unnerving.
